Marian Marshall
I am a compassionate, experienced social worker and therapist with over 15 years in the field and extensive experience supporting individuals and families through mental health, substance use, grief, crisis, family, and life challenges. My approach is holistic, collaborative, and solution-focused. I create a safe, confidential, and supportive environment where clients can feel heard, understood, and empowered to identify practical steps toward positive change.
First session
During the first session, clients can expect a welcoming, confidential, and nonjudgmental environment where they can share what brought them to therapy at their own pace. We will discuss their current concerns, goals, strengths, and available supports. Together, we will identify practical steps and develop a direction for therapy that feels appropriate and meaningful to the client.
Strengths
Compassion, active listening, empathy, cultural awareness, practical problem-solving, advocacy, and a holistic, client-centered approach.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone experiencing life challenges and ready to better understand themselves, identify their strengths, and work toward meaningful change. I enjoy supporting individuals navigating stress, anxiety, grief, family concerns, relationship challenges, substance use, mental health concerns, or major life transitions. I welcome clients who are open to collaboration and want a supportive, nonjudgmental space to explore concerns and develop practical strategies for moving forward.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients recognize connections between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful patterns, explore more balanced perspectives, and develop practical coping strategies. I use a collaborative, goal-focused approach that helps clients build awareness, strengthen coping skills, and make meaningful changes that support their overall well-being.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
I use Cognitive Processing Therapy to help clients process the impact of traumatic experiences and identify thoughts and beliefs that may be contributing to ongoing emotional distress. Through a structured, collaborative approach, we examine unhelpful patterns, develop more balanced perspectives, and build healthier coping skills while supporting the client’s individual goals and pace.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help clients build practical skills to manage difficult emotions, cope with stress, improve relationships, and respond to challenging situations in healthier ways. Through a collaborative and supportive approach, I help clients build emotional awareness, strengthen coping skills, and practice strategies that support greater balance and meaningful progress toward their goals.
