(she/her)
Welcome! I'm Rachel. Are you feeling depressed, anxious, or stressed? Are you struggling with your relationships or a major life transition? Do you feel stuck or overwhelmed? Everyone deserves a safe space to address these challenges, to heal, and to grow. I am a licensed clinical social worker with 15 years of experience providing non-judgmental, compassionate support to individuals from a variety of backgrounds and with a range of issues. I believe that the relationship between the client and therapist is critical to successful therapy. In our sessions together, I will strive to carefully understand you and your unique experience, and together we will explore how to make your life easier and more satisfying. I look forward to hearing from you!
In our first session, we will dive into what brings you to therapy. I will spend the first few sessions getting to know you and developing an understanding of you as a whole person. We will work together to set realistic therapy goals and spend subsequent sessions working towards those goals.
I operate from the strengths perspective, which means that I will place your strengths and resources at the center of the helping process. I also use a biopsychosocial approach which emphasizes the interconnection between biological, psychological, and social factors. I primarily use solution-focused therapy but also draw on techniques from motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, and psychodynamic approaches. We will determine what strategies and tools work best for you.
I am passionate about supporting mothers, especially those struggling with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I also have extensive experience working with individuals with chronic illness and parents of children with chronic illness.
