In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session we will discuss your past medical history. This will include medical as well as mental health diagnosis you may have been given. Discussion of your past medical history will include medications you may currently be on as well as medication you may have been prescribed in this past. This is important to rule out medications that you may have had side effects from or medications that simply were not effective for you. We will briefly discuss family medical history. Do you have a family member that has the same diagnosis or a different mental health diagnosis in the past? and finally we will talk about your goals for our sessions. What do feel is important, what do you hope to accomplish as we work together?

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I approach every client and experience with compassion, empathy, and a listening ear.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I regularly treat patient's with diagnosis that include anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, insomnia, PTSD, as well as personality disorders and substance use disorders. Often patients will find that their symptoms do not fit neatly into one diagnosis category as is common for patients with mental health concerns. Treating patients with dual diagnosis is an area that I am comfortable with after more than 26 years in the health care industry.

My treatment methods

Compassion Focused

Every encounter is approached with compassion and empathy. Compassion is foremost in treating each individual and discussing their personal mental health concern.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is used daily to help clients look at their concerns and break them down into less overwhelming problems. Together, with the patient or client, I help them see negative patterns and make changes that create positive change.

Motivational Interviewing

With reflective listening, shared decision-making, and asking open-ended questions I help clients work through their resistance to change or ambivalence to increase their motivation to change unhealthy behaviors.

This provider was unresponsive, had to be reminded to send in prescriptions, prescribed prescriptions that would negatively impact known health conditions of mine, was late to appointments on multiple occasions, and when I had a horrible adverse reaction to a prescribed medication, her response was to increase the doasage of a different medication without concern. She has too much on her plate to focus on clients.

Stephanie is one of the best mental health providers I have ever worked with. She actually listens and offers a variety of solutions, so you’re involved in your own care. Stephanie is never rushed and if a question arises before the next appointment, she is quick to respond to messages. I can’t say enough about how wonderful she is!

I really enjoyed my session with Stephanie. She was very receptive and made me feel at ease. I would highly recommend her. About 1/3 less $ than I was spending to have my old doctors just stare at me and do nothing.
