Let me be the first to tell you that you can do this and you will look back on this decision at some point in the future and be so glad that you dared to follow through with starting therapy. One of my many specialties is working with those who serve and served our country's military. I have a Masters's in Military Social Work and am the parent of a soldier. I understand military culture and the challenges service members and their families experience a day in and out. Many of these problems are issues that civilian families face as well such as substance abuse, trauma, ADHD, depression, anxiety, and work and family issues that can all pile up and make life difficult to navigate. I especially enjoy helping clients work through life transitions whether professional or personal. My primary tools utilized are compassion and understanding to help empower clients in therapy. I hope that clients gain insight into the function of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and help reframe the negative patterns of judgment that may arise. Together we can investigate where particular thoughts of guilt, wrongdoing, blame, or self-accusation began, why they developed, and what purpose they served. One of my most used insights is that we can never trust a stressed mind to interpret reality. An internal feeling of something is not as good as it could be is making you aware that something in your life needs attention. With thoughtful support and guidance, you can find your path and thrive in life.
As a licensed clinical social worker and therapist, I specialize in treating mood, anxiety and depression disorders. I have extensive experience working in the field of community mental health and telehealth over the past 5 years. My goal is to help you discover your unique strengths, to be able to persevere, as well as uncover your challenging emotions and events and be a peace with them. Together we can identify emotions and explore new skills to help you be more effective in your life. We will work to improve mood, reduce stress, resolve past issues, and enhance your relationships to navigate the demanding lives we all live.
My treatment methods are tailored to your particular needs. I use a person-centered, collaborative, strengths-based approach including CBT, Narrative Therapy and Brief Solution -Focused Therapy. I incorporate ways you can use your support system, community resources, and coping skills to change and improve the life you envision.
My biggest strengths are that I am easygoing and easy to talk to. I will work hard to make sure you feel heard, validated, and supported by creating an empathic and comfortable environment. I am here to be a coach or a co-pilot and help you meet the challenges in your life head and make improvements. I do not make false promises but if together we can make life smoother and more fulfilling for you, then I count that as a win.
