New to Grow
I having been working in the field of clinical social work since stating graduate school in 2002. I have worked in multiple settings including outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient hospitalization. I understand that seeking treatment is often difficult and scary but I want to assure you that you do not have to be afraid to face whatever it is you are going through. We all are doing the best we can. We have to make room for compassion, understanding and hope that change is always possible.
During our first session, I will get to know you and the problem you are facing. We will establish ground rules for your safety and protection and out of respect for the clinical relationship that you choose to enter into. We can begin to identify not only the problem but what your goals are for treatment.
My greatest strengths are listening, supporting and encouraging you to be better, to be well. I approach each person with compassion and hope. I use various therapeutic approaches to assist you with making adjustments that allow a different perspective of the problem, leading to empowerment and change.
Do you have trouble managing your everyday thoughts, emotions and behaviors that are not serving you, only making you more miserable within an already stress filled environment or situation. I work with you on identifying the problem, setting goals and supporting you throughout the process of change that targets symptoms related to anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, personality disorders, and/or eating disorders. We are not alone with what we go through so please reach out and get the support that you need and deserve. You can rise above any obstacle with the right support.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use DBT to help you slow down and understand your thoughts, feelings and behaviors related to you in the context of your relationships and the problems that arise naturally with people we care about. I find that client's like this treatment method because it teaches practical ways of managing distress while creating change and empowerment.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT helps you categorize thoughts so that you can better understand them in the context of any situation and use this knowledge to make adjustments to the way you see yourself and others.
Psychoeducation
Clients find psychoeducation quite empowering once they are able to learn more about the inner working of their brain that causes specific responses to situations or triggers.
