11 years of experience
I am an LCSW with over 10 years of experience in the field. I've worked in hospital settings, inpatient and outpatient mental health, and telehealth therapy. I draw from a wide range of modalities to provide personalized therapeutic solutions and am certified in EMDR, REBT, and am in training as a sex therapist. I have experience and expertise in treating mood disorders, trauma, LGBTQIA+ issues, and neurodivergent people. I strive to create a welcoming and warm patient-centered atmosphere. I believe in de-pathologizing mental health and working to find your strengths and self-love. I come to therapy from a social work background, which means I value and put a lot of emphasis on welcoming and seeking out underrepresented and underserviced minority populations.
Our first session will be an exploration of your current symptoms and history of treatment. We'll explore your level of understanding of therapeutic tools and your insight into your own symptoms. I'll tell you some of my basic beliefs and principles, how I try to analyze problems. We'll work on the basic tools of mindfulness and understanding your inner thoughts and beliefs.
I'm non-judgmental, creative, and very personalized. I try very hard not to give my own advice or opinions but find the answers that work with your goals and your lifestyle. I like to think outside the box and that helps me come up with interesting solutions and good analogies and angles to better understand and interpret abstract problems.
I'm very solution oriented and active as a therapist. I'll help you put your problems and symptoms into understandable terms. Then we'll work on tools to solve those problems step-by-step over time and we'll also talk about how to tolerate and minimize distress while we work on longterm solutions.
MIndfulness is at the core of all I practice. We spend so much of our lives on autopilot and mindfulness is a lifelong practice that allows us to see ourselves from the outside and notice our thoughts and behaviors without judgment so we can decide what to accept and what to act on.
