LCSW, 11 years of experience
My name is Kayla and I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker. I earned my Masters of Social Work from Fordham University and am currently working on my Doctorate of Social Work from Rutgers University with a focus on first responder trauma. I have worked in the field for over ten years and have experience working with individuals across the lifespan. My specialty is trauma-focused therapy, which helps to resolve prior and current experiences. I also enjoy working with adults feeling depressed and anxious.
During our first meeting together, I’ll review logistics first, such as billing, HIPAA, confidentiality, and mandated reporting. Then, I will give a brief overview of my background and experience and answer any questions you may have about me. Once this is addressed, I will focus on you, what caused you to seek therapy, what your goals are, and how you’d like me to help you attain those goals.
After working in different areas of the social work and mental health field, I have cultivated different techniques based on the client to empower and guide them to meet their goals. I feel comfortable adapting different therapeutic techniques to find what clients say works for them rather than what I think works. Helping the client reach their goals is why I became a clinician.
I enjoy working with young to middle-aged adults ready to address current or past traumas. It can be hard to tackle this challenge alone, but together, I can provide the tools needed to conquer it. I also really like working with clients who are experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety and have noticed its impact on their quality of life but don’t quite know what to do next.

Kayla is awesome and I’m lucky to have her. She is a great listener and I’m blessed to connect with her.

Kayla is hands down the best therapist I have ever had, and I’ve had a few. She is the absolute best listener. She makes you think about what you say and helps you better understand why you feel the way you feel. She doesn’t just listen, she listens and injects knowledge at the right moments. She offers solutions when I want solutions and lets me vent when I just need to vent. She is the gold standard of therapists!
By taking a client-centered approach based on treatment goals, CBT is applied to assist with addressing unhelpful thought patterns and beliefs in a manageable and tolerable way. This helps improve the client’s functioning and increase coping skills and overall daily functioning.
For any clients who want to address any recent or prior traumas, TF-CBT helps with working through unhelpful and often harmful thoughts around the trauma and its impact on the client. Though this modality was initially intended for youth, the components can be applied successfully with adults to help improve coping skills, relaxation techniques, and the ability to process and heal from the trauma.
