New to Grow
Hi, I’m Abby! I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Maryland, and I believe therapy shouldn’t feel like a chore—it should actually be a space where you laugh, grow, and surprise yourself along the way. I work with people who are juggling anxiety, stress, self-doubt, and life transitions (aka: being human). As a school counselor turned therapist and business owner, I know life can throw curveballs, and sometimes you need a mix of practical tools, encouragement, and a little humor to get through it. My style is down-to-earth, supportive, and yes—spunky. I’ll cheer you on, challenge you when needed, and help you find creative ways to navigate life that actually work for you. Clients often tell me they feel both comfortable and energized after sessions, which is exactly the vibe I aim for: safe, authentic, and a little fun. If you’re looking for a therapist who can help you manage the hard stuff while reminding you that you’re stronger than you think—you’ve come to the right place.
Think of our first session as a conversation, not an interrogation. I’ll ask some questions to get to know you—what’s going well, what’s been tough, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with—no pressure to spill your whole life story in one go. We’ll spend time talking about your goals, what’s important to you, and what you’d like therapy to feel like (laid back, structured, creative, etc.). I’ll also answer any questions you have about the process so you know what to expect moving forward. Most clients leave the first session with a sense of relief and a clearer idea of the path ahead. My goal is for you to walk away thinking, “Okay, I can do this—and I don’t have to do it alone.”
One of my biggest strengths as a therapist is meeting people exactly where they are—with compassion, humor, and practical strategies you can actually use in real life (not just in a therapy notebook you forget about). I’m skilled at creating a space where you feel safe to be yourself while also keeping things engaging and even a little fun. I blend different approaches—like solution-focused strategies to help you move forward, person-centered support so you feel heard and understood, and creative techniques when you’re ready to think outside the box. Clients often tell me they appreciate that I can be both supportive and direct: I’ll cheer you on, but I’m not afraid to challenge you when it helps you grow. At the end of the day, I want you to leave sessions feeling lighter, more confident, and equipped with tools that actually work for your life.
My best-fit clients are people who want therapy to feel like a mix of real talk, support, and growth—with some laughs along the way. You might be juggling anxiety, stress, or self-doubt, or going through a big life transition that has you feeling stuck. Maybe you’ve tried to “handle it on your own” but realized it would be nice to have someone in your corner who can both listen and give you tools that actually work. I love working with teens, young adults, and adults who are open to exploring new perspectives, whether your goal is to feel less anxious, build confidence, set healthier boundaries, or just figure out what’s next for you. You don’t need to have everything “figured out” before you come—if you’re willing to show up as you are, I’ll meet you there. If you’re looking for a therapist who is approachable, encouraging, and not afraid to sprinkle in some humor, we’ll probably be a great fit.
Drawing from my experience as a school counselor helping students set goals and recognize their strengths, I naturally integrate Solution Focused Therapy into my work through meaningful conversation. In my practice with therapy clients, I use this same approach to highlight what’s already working in your life and build practical, future-focused steps toward meaningful change. My goal is to create a supportive space where you feel empowered to move forward with clarity and confidence.
I also believe you should be the center of your therapy. I use a Person-Centered approach to create a safe and nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard and valued. With my encouragement, empathy and genuine support, you will explore your own thoughts and feelings to help you gain confidence as you grow in the direction you choose.
