Welcome! I'm Stephen Voigt, MSW, LCSW. I am a seasoned therapist with over 30 years of experience. I spent 15 years in the Air Force providing Mental Health services to all branches of the military. I have worked in hospitals and outpatients setting since then. People do not fit in perfect little boxes, nor should treatment be tailored to a "one size fits all " approach. Everyone is different and unique. I believe it is important to find creative and healthy ways to help individuals to solve problems and move forward in their lives. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore obstacles with concerns related to anxiety, depression, trauma and chronic health problems such as cancer. I focus on helping clients develop assertive communication & boundaries with themselves and those around them that can help improve their quality of life. Therapy can foster personal development in whatever way you may be seeking and help build the life you so deeply deserve. If that's what you're looking for, I'm here when you're ready to share.
In your first session, I will spend some time getting to know you and the issues that brought you into treatment. I will ask questions about your presenting concerns, as well as your history and background. Most likely, you’ll find yourself talking about your current symptoms or struggles, as well saying a bit about your relationships, your interests, your strengths, and your goals. Most importantly, in that first session, you should feel safe, accepted, respected, and relatively comfortable. Not all therapists are right for every person, so use your first session to assess whether or not the I am a good match for your personality.
I have a rich and extensive experience and training. I like to emphasize my strengths like empathy, strong communication skills, active listening, patience, cultural competence, problem-solving abilities, trustworthiness, non-judgmental attitude, and the ability to create a safe and supportive environment; I believe i am someone who can genuinely understand and connect with your experiences while providing guidance and support to navigate challenges
I offer services to those struggling with change, traumatic experiences, anxiety, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, dealing with chronic medical conditions and cancer. I also have a specific set of skills aimed at helping veterans.
