My name is Karen B Hoffmann, and I am a LPC, CCTP-II and an LCDC. Believing that you are more than your circumstances and connecting with your true self is at the heart of my approach. I use a positive, holistic, trauma-informed approach incorporating CBT, DBT skills, and Motivational Interviewing. You will progress at your own pace and comfort level. Additionally, I have a strong background in 12 step recovery and SMART recovery certification in dealing with addiction issues.
A first session starts with rapport building, learning more about your story and goals for counseling. Clients typically tell me they feel better after a session, and think of our conversation for days to come.
Simply put, clients tell me I care! I have a warm, encouraging style. I believe we all hold our own answers and we will explore this in a compassionate, safe, nonjudgemental space.
I work with adults 18 and above from diverse backgrounds including anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, life transitions, PTSD, mental health issues, single parenting, grief, and loss.
I believe changing your thoughts, awareness of them and mindfulness can help to change emotions and behavior. Using CBT and DBT skills, I help people get to the bottom of what they are thinking and why.
