Hello, I'm Doctor Zachary Bertone a licensed professional clinical counselor. I have over 20 years as a professional and have found that there is tremendous value in being a catalyst towards personal growth and change. Mind body practice really informs the work I do with clients and my theoretical foundation is primarily housed in positive psychology which is a newer branch of psychology that believes there is more right with an individual than wrong. I also come from a health and wellness background and adopt a holistic approach to your care. This includes the option to work collaboratively and synergistically with a licensed naturopathic doctor through our virtual online clinic to provide you more comprehensive care to foster greater change and wellness.
In our first session, I’ll focus on creating a safe, collaborative space where you can begin sharing your concerns. We’ll talk about your history, the concerns you’re currently facing, your symptoms, and what you hope will feel different. I’ll ask questions to better understand the core components of your struggle, while also exploring the strengths and resources you already have. By the end of the session, we’ll begin shaping an initial treatment plan together so you know what our work will look like moving forward. In sessions thereafter, I will support you in creating a safe and collaborative space for you to learn adaptive skills and resources to better manage your life. We will also hone in on the core components of your struggle to better support self understanding and healing.
What stands out most about my work is the integrative, mind‑body approach I bring to therapy—one that blends positive psychology, transpersonal psychology, and holistic wellness principles to help clients access their strengths and create meaningful change. With over 20 years of professional experience, I focus on helping clients build awareness, develop adaptive skills, and reconnect with their internal resources so they can become the most empowered version of themselves. My background in health, wellness, and mind‑body medicine allows me to support clients not only psychologically but also through a broader lens of whole‑person wellbeing. For those who want deeper integrative care, I also offer the option of collaborative work with a licensed naturopathic doctor through our virtual clinic, creating a synergistic pathway for healing and growth. Clients often share that this combination of grounded skill‑building, holistic insight, and strengths‑based focus helps them experience breakthroughs that feel both practical and transformative.
I’m best positioned to support individuals who are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or ready for meaningful change. I work well with people navigating life transitions, seeking personal growth, or wanting to improve their overall wellbeing, performance, relationships, and overall sense of balance. My approach resonates with clients who are reflective, motivated, and interested in building healthier mind‑body habits, strengthening resilience, and creating a more grounded and intentional way of moving through their lives.
Other specialties
I identify as
Mind-body approach
In utilizing a mind‑body approach I assist clients in understand how their thoughts, emotions, and physical experiences are interconnected. In session, I guide clients in noticing patterns in their nervous system, stress responses, and internal cues, while also integrating mindfulness and somatic awareness to support grounding and resilience. This approach helps clients build insight, strengthen adaptive skills, and reconnect with their internal resources in a way that feels practical, empowering, and holistic.
Integrative
I use an integrative, whole‑person approach that looks at how your emotional, physical, and lifestyle patterns all influence your wellbeing. In our work, I help you build mind‑body resilience by exploring how stress shows up in your nervous system, supporting healthier routines around movement, rest, and nourishment, and strengthening the internal skills that help you stay grounded and adaptive. This approach allows us to address your concerns from multiple angles so you can feel more balanced, connected, and empowered in your daily life.
Positive Psychology
I draw heavily from positive psychology to help clients identify and strengthen the internal resources that support resilience, meaning, and growth. Rather than focusing only on what’s going wrong, I help clients recognize their strengths, values, and existing coping abilities so they can build a more empowered relationship with themselves. In practice, this means we explore what energizes you, what gives you purpose, and what helps you feel grounded, and then use those insights to create sustainable change. This strengths‑based lens helps clients move toward greater clarity, confidence, and overall wellbeing.
Transpersonal
I draw from transpersonal psychology to help clients explore the deeper, more spiritual layers of healing—connecting with intuition, meaning, and a sense of inner wisdom. In practice, I integrate mindfulness, somatic awareness, and reflective practices that support grounding and a felt sense of connection to something larger than the immediate struggle. This holistic lens allows clients to access deeper insight, align with their values, and cultivate a more authentic and expansive sense of self.
Polyvagal Therapy
I use a polyvagal‑informed approach to help clients understand how their nervous system shapes their emotional and relational experiences. In our work, I guide clients in recognizing when they’re in states of activation or shutdown and support them in moving toward a more regulated, ventral‑vagal state—where they feel grounded, connected, and capable. I incorporate practices like co‑regulation, mindful grounding, and internal resourcing to help clients build safety in their body and strengthen their capacity to return to balance. This approach helps clients develop deeper awareness of their nervous system patterns and cultivate resilience through a calmer, more supported internal experience.
