New to Grow
Hi! My name is Noor. I am genuine, warm, real, empathic, perceptive, and wise. I completed my graduate work in counseling over a decade ago and have worked with a diverse array of clients over several years, helping them each to find a unique pathway towards healing and wholeness. For each person, this has looked different, whether it's processing deep grief or heartbreak, learning to forgive one's self or another, finding a core sense of worth (again), learning to say “No”, building healthy coping mechanisms, moving through self-sabotage, or healing from trauma (big or small). Each client is unique, and I attune to my clients’ needs and personalize my service to meet you exactly where you are at.
In a first session with me, you can expect that we will have a relaxed conversation, in which I hope to gain a glimpse into your unique life story, current challenges and stuck places; what has and hasn't worked for you so far, your intentions for a therapeutic journey, and to hear about your longings and vision for your life. We will assess our fit together. If we co-discern harmony and resonance, then we will discuss what working together will look like. I look forward to having a conversation with you if this speaks to your heart. Before this, the next step is to book an initial 15 min consult (30 mins reserved) through this site, so we can have a simple brief introduction and I can answer any questions you may have as well as ask you some guiding questions. (Please note: if we end up working together and schedule ahead, I imagine I will have more availability to offer you beyond my current listed options, so please don't let this be a deterrent at all).
What sets me apart as a therapist is that I am not trying to hide behind a "professional" mask, and therapy with me does not feel overly clinical or heady. I relate to you human-to-human and see you as someone brave and humble enough to open yourself up to support, which of course is vulnerable. You need not ever come to therapy in shame or thinking there's something "wrong" with you for seeking therapy. Quite the contrary, I see it as a sign of psychological strength and health. I hold a depathologizing lens that is not focused on psychological diagnosis and honors your humanity and your own unique lived experience. Furthermore, my approach to therapy — unlike many traditional cognitive-behavioral therapists (CBT) — is embodied and includes your body, emotions, etc. In addition, my approach is not generic ("one size fits all") — I draw on whatever I sense would best serve you in the moment. Last but not least, if you're curious, I have over 25 five star google reviews for my practice, which you can check out if you google "Transformational Therapy (Florida)".
I work best with those who are motivated, growth-oriented, willing to take direction, flexible, ready to make positive changes in their life, respectful, and open to long-term work (if that is what is called for). Also, I integrate the spiritual within the psychological, so clients who are spiritually inclined especially enjoy working with me. (Please note: neurodivergence, TGNB, & poly or open relationships are outside my specialty).
I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help heal trauma and help clients move through emotional stuckness. It is an incredibly effective modality for processing trauma, and I experience it as miraculous in some ways. I look forward to introducing you to the magic of this modality!
I am an IFS-Informed therapist, and IFS is an incredible evidence-based modality that helps you really get in touch with different parts of yourself and your inner experience/landscape. If you are spiritually-inclined, this modality will speak to you, as it is inherently spiritual. I use IFS to help clients get unstuck, to resolve inner tensions or arguments, and to cultivate self-awareness.
We cannot see our own blindspots. As a depth therapist who is attuned to the unconscious, I can help shine the light on blindspots of yours you are not yet seeing and to integrate them lovingly. Also, I work with imagery and symbolic meaning-making and integrate the spiritual within the psychological.
Grief is one of my top specialties. We only grieve that which matters to us, so for me, grief work is a form of honoring our feelings and what something means/meant to us, whether it's a former partner/beloved, a deceased parent, a friendship, the dream of how we thought life "should be", etc. In the words of Dr. Matt Licata, "Sometimes I wonder if all therapy isn’t grief therapy when all is said and done. No matter what flavor or fragrance of healing we’re drawn to - or comes to us in the dark of night - ultimately we’ll be asked to enter through the doorway of grief."
As someone trained in humanistic Rogerian person-centered therapy, I orient to being an empathic, genuine, warm, real, and supportive presence, no matter what. Also, given my rich background with Nonviolent Communication (NVC), which is sometimes referred to as "Compassionate Communication", I steer away from psychological diagnosis and use a de-pathologizing lens focused on understanding your human feelings and needs.
