Hello! My name is Katie Ayres and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Indiana and have been in practice for the past 20 years. I have been told the following through client feedback, and I hope the same for you! "Thank you, Katie..🥀. I felt very connected ..and "heard" today..🌈. So grateful for you and your way of counseling..it is so kind...You have helped me so much..and continue to do that for me." In addition to therapy, I have also served as a Clinical Supervisor and Clinical Director. I am certified in TF-CBT (see below) and specialize in sexual abuse. I currently provide online therapy so that you can attend in the comfort of your own space.
In the first session together, we will spend time building a therapeutic relationship through rapport building and I will ask basic questioning on what you hope to get out of therapy. I will go at your pace, and meet you where you are at in the therapeutic process. Therapy takes time and I am here to walk through it with you.
Having worked in the field for 20 years, I have seen and heard many things! I bring a wealth of knowledge and understanding. I will provide active listening and we will problem solve together.
Katie Ayres offers therapy covered by Managed Health Services (Managed Medicaid), Medicaid - Managed Health Services and UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Indiana.
Motivational interviewing is a therapeutic method that involves enhancing a client's motivation to change by means of four guiding principles, represented by the acronym RULE: Resist the righting reflex; Understand the client's own motivations; Listen with empathy; and Empower the client.
Grief is the natural emotional response to the loss of someone close, such as a family member or friend. Grief can also occur after a serious illness, a divorce or other significant losses. Grief often involves intense sadness, and sometimes feelings of shock and numbness, or even denial and anger. We will process through these emotions together at a pace that you are comfortable with.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of talk therapy. It is a common treatment for a range of mental health challenges and teaches you positive coping skills. It focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and actions.
Strengths-based (or asset-based) approaches focus on individuals' strengths (including personal strengths and social and community networks) and not on their deficits. We will focus on your strengths to achieve your personalized goals.
TF-CBT addresses the multiple domains of trauma impact including but not limited to Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, externalizing behavior problems, relationship and attachment problems, school problems and cognitive problems. We will use TF-CBT to improve skills for regulating affect, behavior, thoughts and relationships, trauma processing, and enhancing safety, trust, parenting skills and family communication.
