LPC, 21 years of experience
My name is Amber Simons, MS, LPC, CPCS. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of Georgia. I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Kennesaw State University and Master of Science degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University. I have over 20 years of experience in the mental health field providing therapeutic and crisis intervention services to children, adolescents, adults, and couples/families.
In our first session, the goal is to help you feel comfortable and supported. We'll spend time getting to know each other, talk about your background, what’s been going on in your life, and what brought you to therapy. You’re welcome to share whatever feels right—there’s no pressure to dive into everything at once. We’ll also talk about what you’re hoping to get out of therapy and explore whether my approach feels like a good fit. This is a space for you, and we’ll move forward one step at a time. You’ve got this, and I’m here to help.
I create a warm, nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe to share and explore their thoughts and emotions. With strong empathy and active listening, I strive to truly understand each person’s unique experience. I’m flexible in my approach, drawing from a range of therapeutic techniques to meet individual needs. My goal is to work collaboratively, helping clients feel empowered, build resilience, and develop practical tools to navigate life’s challenges.
I work best with individuals, couples, and families dealing with trauma from childhood or major life events like loss, abuse, or crisis. My clients often face PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, stress, or life transitions. They’re ready to heal, build resilience, and create healthier connections in a safe, supportive space.
I am nationally certified in Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), an evidence-based treatment approach shown to help children, adolescents, and their parents (or other caregivers) overcome trauma-related difficulties, including child maltreatment. I have many years of experience in treating various trauma including physical/sexual/emotional abuse.
Integrative Therapy involves selecting models and methods from across orientations to best suit a particular client and context. I use a variety of treatment approaches including client centered, CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, and solution focused. The approach I use depends on the needs of the client.

She has been the best therapist I have had by far. She lets me see things from an unbiased point of view which has helped me a lot. She is very kind and listens to everything you say.

Amber is wonderful and I always enjoy our sessions. She’s authentic, warm, intelligent, open minded and solution oriented, while also being easy to talk to, friendly and humorous.

Amber not only listens to you speak in detail ,but asks questions, gives thought provoking feedback while holding you accountable to your own goals in the process of evaluating anxiety, depression or stability. Amber isn't judgmental, or condescending in her approach but rather open minded and conscience of her words or advice in an ethical and intellectual manner. Amber has helped me so much in regards to self care, thinking through impulsive moments with being more self aware.
