LMFT, 30 years of experience
New to Grow
I have over 30 years of experience in the mental health field. I have worked with individuals, couples, and families by helping them improve relationship concerns and communication issues. I was trained in the school of brief therapy; hence, my sessions usually are 10 sessions or less. My therapeutic style focuses on facilitating change to create positive outcomes for my client's. As a communication facilitator, I listen and provide a broader perspective into the issue being presented. This assists the clients to see the issues in a different perspective and to develop a wide range of understanding on the issues, establish behavioral changes, and create positive outcomes. My style in belief therapy, believes the client is the expert of their situation but needs helps to see the broader perspective into the problem. Once this is established, the client can become flexible in make positive changes in their lives.
During the first session, a review of the intake and assessment form will be explored and discussed. I will probe on the issue the client would like to address and work on. Talk about the expectation of therapy, the length of therapy, and the goals of therapy will be agreed upon by both the client and therapist. Finally, a scheduling of the following appointment will be done.
My approach is based on mutual respect and understanding. Allowing the client to feel comfortable with the therapeutic process. Assisting the client to work on the identified issue and learn ways to address the issue in a constructive manner. Working with the client to enhance coping skills and self-awareness is my main goal to foster change in the therapeutic process.
I have worked with a variety of clientele ranging from the ages of 20-89, both males and females. I have assisted my clients with feelings of anxiety, feeling of overwhelmedness, hopelessness, helplessness, feeling of insecurity, self-esteem issues, depression, anger issues, relationship issues, couple and family concerns and bereavement and grief.
Solution Focused Therapy helps clients find solutions to problems by focusing on their strengths and desired future goals rather than dwell on past problems. The emphasis is on desired outcomes to enhance quality of life and relationships.
