(she/her)
Hi! My name is Amber, and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I am from Austin, Texas and moved to Lubbock to receive my undergraduate degree in communication studies and psychology at Texas Tech University, and then to Fort Worth where I worked for a nonprofit that provided for low income and homeless families. This is where my interest sparked with social work and I received my masters degree from the University of Texas at Arlington with a concentration in mental health and addictions. I have worked at a behavioral health hospital hospital with adults, geriatrics and adolescents with varying stressors, symptoms, mental illness, substance use, etc. since 2017 doing group therapy, family therapy, individual therapy and case management. I have also worked in private practice since 2020 working to help my clients manage mood disorders, addictive behaviors, substance use, severe depression, anxiety and complicated trauma through individual therapy. I have a passion for working with clients that want to better understand and cope with their past and create a more peaceful present as they continue to work toward building their future and reaching their identified goals.
I want each client to feel empowered, heard and validated in each session. My purpose is to ensure you have someone to walk with you and help you navigate all the clutter that feels as though it is stopping you from meeting your goals and finding clarity or peace. I want to help you challenge yourself to grow in the direction that best suits your life and best allows you to be the person and live the life that you hope for.
I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, which allows us to begin changing the cycles of thought, emotion and behavior after a triggering event, as well as dialectical behavioral therapy, which allows for healthy and effective emotional regulation, distress tolerance and mindfulness. I always ensure the client comes first with a client-centered approach inn deciding healthy and effective goals that fit their needs and direction with treatment.
My strengths lie with regulating mood disorders, managing substance use and addictive behaviors, as well as navigating complicated trauma to cope more effectively with unhealthy anxiety, anger and depression.
