LPC, 6 years of experience
Hello! My name is Ungria Castillo and I look forward to working together and supporting you as we talk through what brings you here. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas My hope is to create a space where you feel heard and seen and where you can openly share your about yourself. I understand how overwhelming certain emotions or situations can be or how discouraging it can be to feel stuck. After I get to know more about what brings you to counseling and about you, we will be exploring what your priorities are and creating a plan that focuses on the goals that you would want to accomplish. I hope to aid you in thinking on solutions from a different perspective and providing you with additional skills and tools that fit your personality and address what you share with me. My education and knowledge are in modalities that help you access different resources, highlight personal strengths and address those big feelings that are getting in the way of feeling fulfilled or living out your purpose. I am happy to come alongside you as you take this important step. You have already overcome so much and I am so glad you are here. This can be the beginning of writing a great new chapter of your life.
In our first session, clients can expect supportive and kind interactions with me in order to start working on our therapeutic connection. We will review some personal and family history, discuss the concerns that bring you to counseling, and talk about what you are hoping to get out of this time together. We will get to tough questions about those painful and hurtful things that have led to you seeking help, but I do my best to create a supportive environment to share about those.
I consider my biggest strength to be my love for learning as this helps me remain open to learning from my clients and their experiences and to learning from other professionals in the field
I would like to support clients who are presenting with concerns of communication and relationship issues, parenting concerns, blended families, parents of children with behavioral or emotional challenges, life transitions and changes, anxiety and depression, Christian issues or issues of faith, divorce and/or life after divorce, coping skills, and emotional regulation
Despite having been trained in other modalities, I consistently rely on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to support clients reach their treatment plan goals. CBT targets what we often battle the most: those pesky thought patterns that keep us stuck.
