My career has taken me to healthcare facilities such as psychiatric hospitals, outpatient clinics, mental health agencies, and substance abuse programs. My passion has been working with clients who have both mental health and substance abuse issues. I am knowledgeable in twelve-step programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon, Narcotics Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous, and Adult Children of Alcoholics Anonymous. I am easygoing and enjoy helping others. My counseling style is person-centered and you are the most important in the therapeutic relationship. I specialize in the following therapies; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Reality Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Rational Emotive Therapy. I have experience treating clients with the following diagnoses; anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive, borderline personality disorder, and anti-social disorder. I graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Master's Degree in Educational Counseling. My concentration of study was mental health counseling. Since that time, I obtained my license as a License Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. Also, I am a Licensed Clinical Profession Counselor in the state of Illinois. I am looking forward to assisting in your recovery.
Completing our first session, I hope to have started a therapeutic alliance with you.
I generally utilize cognitive behavior therapy, person-centered therapy, and rational emotive therapy. I prefer to give homework assignments that relate to the client's goals. Also, the client will complete an assessment so I get to know them better.
My biggest strengths consist of being available to the client, nonjudgmental, advocating for the client, and being encouraging.
