Hello! My name is Gena and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Pennsylvania. I received my master’s degree in Marriage and Family therapy from Northcentral University specializing in general family therapy. I believe that we all have unique strengths that can aid in healing. Sometimes these strengths are hidden, undiscovered, or simply not utilized. My goal is to help you find your strength and power again to navigate through the difficulties that life can bring.
In a first session clients can expect to be met with positive unconditional regard, empathy, and validation. My goal is to create an atmosphere that is safe to enable clients to feel comfortable opening up. During the first session we will discuss your background and any precipitating factors that led to treatment. We will also discuss best hopes for therapy to ensure when goal setting that we are working on what is most important to you.
My greatest strength as a provider is my ability to be authentic. I have a lot of personality which helps clients to feel at ease during their sessions. My hope is that you feel important and not just another number when working with me.
I have years of experience working with individuals, children, families, and couples to help foster meaningful change. I work with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief and loss, self-esteem, stress, trauma, anger management, substance abuse, marital concerns, family issues, and more.
I believe everyone has internal strengths and resiliency that can be utilized to help reauthor their story. My work focuses on cultivating a personalized therapeutic experience that encompasses both compassion and empathy. Together we will deconstruct the narrative you hold about yourself that is holding you back and reauthor a story that is more aligned with your hopes and dreams.
I utilize this approach to teach you ways to challenge the negative cognitive distortions that are exacerbating your mental health symptoms and enable you to develop a healthier sense of self.
As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I utilize multiple systemic theories to help couples learn their attachment styles and love languages while improving communication, conflict resolution, troubles with intimacy, etc.
