Accepting new clients! Depression, anger, anxiety, and just trying to figure out how to make it in the world today can be difficult to do alone. My passion is to guide people through this journey to help them find peace in an otherwise chaotic world. If you are ready for change and want to talk to someone that can help you feel grounded and ready to face the world, please reach out to me. I offer counseling utilizing CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) principles to produce either positive changes to behavior or peaceful acceptance of things that one cannot change. For clinically less intense, but still troubling problems, I utilize personal coaching techniques and Motivational Interviewing Techniques. If you are dealing with depression, anger, or anxiety and want this type of change in your life then I am here to help. I know that you are probably tired of the struggles that have held you down in the past. It can be exhausting to try and do it alone. I hope that your desire to see something different in your life encourages to take the next step. I am available to talk if you are ready to begin this journey.

Welcome! I am Mayra Ramos, LCSW. Seeking counseling can be quite nerve-wracking, not knowing what to expect and often doubting that it will actually help. But, counseling doesn't have to be so complicated. Counseling is about building a trusting relationship with your therapist, knowing that you can talk about anything that comes to mind. You don't have to second-guess yourself, as counseling is all about you. It's a place where you will be understood, where you will be listened to, supported, and where the ultimate goal is to increase your overall well-being. I strive to provide clients with a safe and comforting environment where they are free to express themselves. Clients will be able to explore their thoughts, current situations, address stressors, life changes, relationship conflicts, grief, and a multitude of issues. Together we will work to set boundaries, improve relationships, increase healthy coping skills, and live a more joyful life. I am experienced with adults and children over 12 years old.

Like you, I have had my own set of challenges and believe the key to overcoming life's obstacles is learning to plan and cope. You can't control all the pain that will come our way, but we can control how we react to it. Of course, this is sometimes easier said than done and we need help. I would be honored to assist you in your journey towards a happier healthier you.

Hello! Thanks for visiting my profile. I’m originally from Philadelphia and now based in Baltimore. I went to graduate school at the University of Texas at Austin, where I studied Social Work and Latin American Studies. I have worked in the social services field for over 15 years and have been a licensed social worker and practicing therapist for 7 years. Most of my experience has consisted of working with survivors of violence (family, intimate partner, and/or sexual violence) as well as with Spanish-speaking immigrants. I enjoy working with caregivers and their children and with mixed status immigrant families. Although I am not Hispanic/Latine, I lived in Peru for about 5 years and speak Spanish fluently, so I am comfortable providing therapy in Spanish. At this time, I specialize in supporting adolescents and young adults who are managing anxiety or undergoing life changes. As a community organizer myself, I also enjoy supporting fellow organizers who are experiencing burnout. I provide tele-therapy to individuals ages 13+. For clients under 16, I incorporate the parent/caregiver into sessions on a regular basis. Additionally, I provide psychological evaluations in English and Spanish for immigrant clients who are looking to support their legal cases (asylum, U-Visa, VAWA, and extreme hardship waivers). Because these are completely separate from therapy sessions, please schedule a consultation call only so that we can discuss this option.

Hi! I'm a Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC) based in Texas with 13 years of professional work experience. My professional journey started helping people with functional diversity, college students, and the LBGTQ population. I have dedicated my time to working with couples and families on issues of family changes, divorce, domestic violence, parenting, and grief. I see clients in individual therapy with learning disability, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder. I work with people to help them to discover their potential and build resilience. I have mediated group therapy sessions to include life skills, anger management, stress management, adjustment to changes, and parenting skills. I also served our community by working with children and families with different diagnoses in a health center. I used Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Play therapy, Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, Family Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, and Humanistic Therapy. The approach used is tailored based on your needs. I believe in resilience and that no matter the most difficult circumstances, people can transform, get up, reinvent themselves, and move forward. The answers and solutions are born from within you and all the experiences you have overcome, making you a strong human being. I want to be that guide who helps you see those answers and solutions in times of pain and need to create resilience and empowerment.

I have served military families for 12 years. Military and civilian families share many of the same issues. Military families tend to deal with and experience multiple relocations. This means moving children to new schools, dealing with household packing and unpacking and stress in general. Civilian and military couples sometimes experience communication issues, disloyalty in the relationship or other stressful issues which cause conflict to arise. Some or all of these issues can be addressed and clients can find solutions agreeable to the parties involved.

Hi, I'm Attalie. Have you forgotten to take care of yourself? Do you often wonder what it would take to feel some sense of balance in your life again? We are faced with challenges and changes in life constantly and making adjustments as we pivot to meet expectations of family, community, and work often leads to a sense of depletion and no time to care for self. If you often escape, avoid, procrastinate or for that matter take on everyone else's issues and never have time to sort out your own sense of wellness and health I am here to help you grow, understand and advocate for your overall health and well being. I look at mental health in a wholistic sense. I mix mindfulness and decades of experience in fitness to help you find what works for you. I empower you to live your best balanced life and find the fulfillment you need to step into the alignment of your purpose. Developing a strong relationship with self; defining your boundaries, recognizing your value systems and how they pertain to your way of being in this messy world are the staples to grounding yourself mentally. You are enough, you are deserving, and whatever you are dealing with now I'll meet you there. Let's work together to find tools that are intrinsically yours and get to a better you.

Do you feel like you've lost your way, your purpose and identity, or just need to get back on track? Hello! My name is Erie, and I'd love to help you. Social workers typically have an interesting life story and personal experiences with tragedy that tug at our heartstrings. I am no different. At times, I wonder "how is it that I have survived these mountains and valleys?" Despite personal tragedy, loss, and despair, influential people have served as beacons of hope throughout the years in my life. Along with my re-creation of self through school, internships, and certifications, I have learned one basic human tenant that would be my guiding light through the most challenging of times: people need people. I realize that this sounds a bit rudimentary, but this is the cornerstone of social work and the secret to my success in beating the statistical odds that accompany a survivor of childhood abuse, drug addiction and alcoholism, military combat trauma, and the loss of a child. So, the question stands: why am I here and what do I want? I simply want to pay it forward as many have done for me. I would have never expected to be where I am or doing what I'm doing. I personally believe that there is hope and light in the most desperate, dark places and recesses of the human soul. For that reason, I bet on the underdog, society's undeserving, and those with whom all other plans have failed. I find that my reward and inner satisfaction comes with doing for others when all else has failed and all others have given up. For this reason, I will keep doing for others, because they are worth it.

Hello and welcome! My name is Helen and I am an LPC in Texas. I am happy that you are taking the time to review my profile to see if we are a good fit. I don't have an agenda aside from helping you feel better and happier in your life. My therapeutic approach is more like a conversation with a close friend who makes you feel safe and encourages you to explore your thoughts and feelings. Do you ever feel as though you have thoughts that aren't serving you but you don't know how to change them? Do you feel bad and you're not sure why? Are you unsure of what you want in life? I help my clients gain clarity on who they are, what they want, and how to explain it to others by asking them questions to unlock doors they didn't even know were there. You talk, I listen. I point out reoccurring themes I notice in our sessions, perfectionism comes up a lot for my clients, and we explore whether or not those beliefs are helpful to you. If they aren't, we explore your beliefs and find another point of view, another perspective that is also true but helpful and nourishing for you. I like pointing out your strengths and reminding you of your past successes and skills which can be applied to your current challenges. I look forward to working with you.

Hi there, I'm Tonya. Do you feel like you need someone to talk to but feel like no one understands you? Carl Rogers said, “We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. I am committed to creating a space where the client feels seen and heard. I have a unique counseling style that allows clients to quickly engage in the therapeutic process. Helping clients find a deeper understanding of themselves is my focus. I guide the client through their journey of self-awareness with cognitive restructuring combined with a person-centered approach. Do you feel overwhelmed and mentally depleted? Our thoughts, emotions, and behavior are guided by our internal compass. Sometimes we need to check our compass and make sure we are going in the right direction. This internal compass is the lens through which we see ourselves, and the world and influences our decisions. A shift in the thought process opens the door for healing and clarity of thought. I'm here to help. Seeking therapy can feel scary but you're making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can gain the self-awareness you need to work through your struggles and move forward with your life. Let's work together!

I have experience working with children, adolescents and adults. I find that family dynamic issues is the culprit for all three populations. I come from the school of thought where we are supposed to learn from our past experiences and build on them, so that is one area I tend to stress heavily with my clients. My main job is not to tell someone what to do, but show them how to get to a place they can make that choice.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Texas rather than a city like Dallas?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Texas from Houston to Austin! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Texas.

Will my therapist take Oxford?

Yes! If you use Oxford you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have Oxford you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
