Hello, I'm Mario, and I'm here to help you navigate the challenges you're facing, whether it's anxiety, grief, depression, or any other mental health concern. I believe that everyone has the strength within them to overcome their struggles, and my role is to support you in discovering and harnessing that strength. As Lao Tzu wisely said, “He who conquers others is strong; he who conquers himself is mighty!” This philosophy is at the heart of my counseling approach.
Lizzie Gutierrez has worked in various careers that have helped mold her into the therapist she is today. She served in the Army, worked for several years as a Licensed Practical nurse in Pediatric clinic, OB/GYN clinic and in Labor and delivery. These experiences has taught Lizzie the true definition of empathy and patience. When Lizzie is working she loves to be on the move. Lizzie loves to run as it helps to clear her mind but also provides time with friends. Lizzie is the mother of 3 boys, has been married for almost 26 years and also has fur babies.
On days Lizzie does not want to do anything, she loves to curl up on the couch in the early hours with a book and a good cup of coffee with her fur babies. She also loves to travel with her family when she is able.

As a single black mom, I bring a profound understanding of life's complexities. Join me on a journey to rediscover joy and equilibrium, regardless of your background or experiences.
My experience is centered on collaborating with youth, adults, and families. During these developing years and shifting dynamics, additional care for our health is needed. I work with emotional regulation, relational rifts, enhancing communication, and acceptance of self.
With attachment focused therapy as my base, I utilize mindfulness and experiential approaches in our work together. Our conversations and therapeutic activities are guided by your experience and goals.
I believe that every person is a light in this world, and that healing begins with reconnecting with one’s inner strength, inherent worth, and higher purpose. While each person’s story is unique, we all face universal challenges—navigating a competitive world, understanding who we are, finding meaning, and adapting to change. When stress becomes overwhelming or unmanageable, reaching out for support is an important step toward resilience.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in humanistic psychology, with an emphasis on personal growth, self-understanding, and thriving. While exploring the nature and impact of suffering is important, I think it is just as important to help clients develop practical strategies to restore balance, build insight, and move toward a more fulfilling life. I integrate techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), polyvagal theory, psychodynamic therapy, psychological "parts" work including Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), tailoring my approach to each individual’s needs.
I bring over 10 years of experience supporting individuals across a variety of settings. My background includes working as an outpatient therapist in a community mental health clinic during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as serving as a college counselor. During my graduate training, I worked in child welfare within abuse and neglect court systems. Earlier in my career, I facilitated tobacco cessation groups in a public health setting and began my work in the helping professions as a certified nursing assistant supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and elder adults. Throughout these experiences, I have remained deeply committed to helping others heal, grow, and thrive.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about my approach. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you!
I’m a licensed therapist with over 18 years of experience helping adults navigate burnout, anxiety, trauma, and life transitions. I work with high-functioning individuals who often appear to have it together on the outside but feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or stuck beneath the surface.
Many of my clients are used to pushing through, taking care of others, and managing everything on their own—until it stops working. They come to me looking for more than just coping strategies. They want to understand what’s driving their patterns and experience real, lasting change.
My approach integrates EMDR, parts work, and nervous system-focused therapy to help you move beyond surface-level solutions. Together, we work to reduce overwhelm, process unresolved experiences, and shift the patterns that keep you feeling stuck.
The impact of this work is more than symptom relief. Clients often begin to feel calmer, more grounded, and clearer in their decisions. They develop a stronger sense of self, improved boundaries, and a greater ability to navigate stress without becoming overwhelmed.
My goal is to create a space where you feel supported, understood, and able to make meaningful progress at a pace that feels right for you. You don’t have to keep doing this alone—change is possible, and it can feel more sustainable than you might expect.
Over the past 18 years, I have had the pleasure of working with diverse populations including Serious Mental Illness specializing in trauma and personality disorders, Addiction including those involved in the Criminal Justice System and Child Protective Services, LGBTQ, and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. I earned my Master of Social Work Degree from University of Southern California with an emphasis on children and families and have certifications in Trauma Informed Care, American Society of Addiction Medicine, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

Hello there! Take a deep breath. It's not easy finding the right therapist. I have been on the other side of the therapy desk and know how hard it is to open up to a stranger. It's okay if you are anxious about it, I understand this. I have provided therapy for almost 20 years and have been in the mental health field for over 25 years in a multitude of settings - schools, prisons, outpatient and inpatient facilities. I've been in private practice for about 8 years. If you need just a few sessions to gain just a few tools to help over a rough patch, we can collaborate on that. Or, if you are ready for a major change in your life to address some serious problems, we can work on that, as well. My approach is collaborative, meaning, you and I are a team to work towards a solution for your current challenges.
I have lived a long and colorful life. Like everyone else, I've made good and bad choices and learned from each. I have 22+ years experience in the mental health and substance abuse treatment field. I DO NOT JUDGE, AT ALL, PERIOD. I can be both blunt and gentle as appropriate. My role is to offer another perspective, a way to see life more fully and function better, no more, no less. I don't pretend to have all the answers but only one slice of wisdom. I just share what can help someone. Some people are not yet ready to be helped. Yet for those who are feeling lost on life's journey and are willing to listen and learn, I'm here to assist. My life work can be summed up in three words, "offering people hope. "
