Mendy Daniels
I've known since childhood I wanted to help people solve their problems and/or make their lives better. I started working in the helping professions when I was nineteen years old and continued throughout my education. I received my clinical license in 2000 and have spent most of my career working with various populations, including children, teens, adults, and seniors. The bulk of my eperience lies in helping people with problems related to substance abuse, trauma, and mental health. I offer virtual sessions in a conversational and casual manner. I'm most often described as, "A great listener" with the ability to help people feel, "At ease".
First session
The first session is about establishing what work we will do together and your personal goals. I will ask some background information questions to get a general idea of your history, but you will not be asked for specific details related to trauma on the first visit. There will also be opportunities for you to ask me questions as well.
Strengths
Mostly, because I'm old. I've worked in social work in some capacity since 1986 and I've focused on being a clinician since 2000. There is no substitution for life experience.
Ideal clients
I have successes in treating people with substance abuse issues, depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, transition of life issues, and problems with relationships. Best outcomes come from clients who are motivated to identify what they want to change and commit to taking the steps to get there. Sometimes it's difficult to know what needs to change and I can guide the way to figuring that out.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is an approach to problems that focuses on the way you think and how that affects your emotions and decision-making.
