New to Grow
Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based out of Richmond VA. I received a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2021, and have been working to expand learned techniques over the last 4 years. There is no "one size fits all" to any aspect of life, and this applies to the therapeutic space. I focus on helping individuals navigate challenges and areas of distress with empowerment, an eclectic approach, and application of learned coping skills and knowledge.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
The first session can often be anxiety inducing as you are taking a huge step and we are meeting for the first time. If you are nervous, then please know that is entirely understandable and okay! You can expect that I will be gathering a lot of information about you, your current areas of desired growth, and the specific goals you want to start moving towards. We will work together to create a collaborative treatment plan to address your needs and concerns.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Over the last 4 years I have worked to strengthen my understanding of various techniques, theories, and their application on an individual basis. I aim to provide understanding, insight, and motivation to help my clients meet their goals while finding reprieve. In the therapeutic space I aim to create the sayings of "progress not perfection" and "progress is not linear". The roller coaster of life is something we all navigate differently, and I work diligently to establish good rapport to assist in making the journey as comfortable as possible while we work together.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal client is simply one that shows up. Sometimes, the stressors of life can pin us down keeping us stagnant. If you are able to show up, then we will let the work take us from there. I want to provide a supportive and validating space for those that are both navigating negative experiences as well as celebrating major life accomplishments or transitions. There is always space to do both.
Eclectic
I do not believe that there is a "one-size-fits-all" approach to growth, healing, or therapy. This means that I utilize a wide variety of evidence based approaches to best meet the individual I am working with on a case by case basis. I use techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to challenge and reframe negative patterns, mindfulness practices to ground yourself in the present moment, or solution focused interventions to realistically address and resolve worries as they come. Life, and all of the curve balls it can throw as us, requires fluidity, flexibility, and adaptation. We apply that same mindset to our work together to navigate and overcome through various lenses as they are needed.
