LPC, 7 years of experience
New to Grow
Welcome! My name is Kaitlyn and I have been proving therapy to a wide range of people for about 7 years. Connecting with others and helping others improve their lives has been a passion of mine. I provide a person-centered therapy to allow the people I serve to be in the driver seat. I am simply a guide in the passenger seat providing support. You are the expert in your life and I am the expert in providing therapy treatment. Experiences of anxiety, depression, or life changes are hard enough and I believe no one should face these things alone. Book an appointment if you have further questions or believe I am the right fit to assist you in healing.
The first session of meeting a therapist whether it be your first or multiple. There is no pressure on the first session. Building a therapeutic relationship takes importance over diving into all the difficulties of life. You drive the experience, and I will guide.
From a young age I knew that I would be a therapist. I was the kid sitting under the slide listening to peers' cry when they were bullied or had a break-up. Listening has always been a strong skill of mine. I take a person-centered therapeutic approach and cognitive behavioral therapy approach. I find these methods to be successful for clients will put in work between sessions. Clients reach their goals and notice positive change when they feel supported and positively challenged.
I have worked with several groups of clients. My main focus of therapy has become focused on anxiety, depression and mood disorders. Big life changes, relationship concerns, and low self-esteem happens and when clients are ready for change, we can work together to make realistic goals. Goals are focused on your specific needs and made by you.
Over the years I have found CBT to be effective in improving life experiences. I have used CBT in several areas of therapy: suicidal ideation, domestic violence experiences, and life changes. Using this method improves our ability to challenge unhelpful thoughts that consume our perspective of life , ourselves, and situations.
Motivational interviewing helps me work with the people I serve to explore what areas we are ready to change in life. I use motivational interviewing with all clients to collaborate together in making changes.
The people I serve are experts on their life, and I am the expert in providing treatment. Using psychoeducation helps my clients deepen their understanding of how their life and psychology work together.
