Hi, I am so glad you are here. I’m Sydney. I’m a psychiatric nurse practitioner providing virtual care to adults across Virginia. I specialize in treating ADHD, depression, anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, and binge eating disorder. I welcome clients seeking an LGBTQIA+ provider. I also offer ADHD assessments for diagnosis and treatment. At this time, I am only accepting clients looking for a medication management provider. My goal, though, is not just to prescribe medication and send you on your way. My goal is to be a long-term, trusted partner in helping you achieve a happy and fulfilling life. I do this by implementing individualized treatment plans that support your growth and overall well-being. I’m not anti-medication, but I am thoughtful about its use. I blend the best of both allopathic medicine and evidence-informed interventions to create a treatment plan that’s as unique as you are. That might include medications, lifestyle shifts, and therapy. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all care. You are not a diagnosis or a checklist. You’re a whole person, and I meet you as such. Our work together is collaborative. I’ll always meet you where you are, whether that’s with medication support, psychoeducation, diagnostic clarity, or simply making space for you to process and be heard. We’ll work together to make choices that feel right for you, at your pace and on your terms.
What to Expect in Your First Visit ✓ Pre-visit review Before we meet, I will email you an intake questionnaire and my practice policies. This pre-visit review helps ensure we are a good match and that I am able to meet your needs. If any concerns arise, I will reach out to discuss them with you before your appointment, out of respect for your time and financial investment. ✓ 60-minute consultation In our first session, I’ll take time to listen to your story. I’ll ask clarifying questions to better understand your background, current concerns, lifestyle habits, and what you’re hoping to gain from treatment. Toward the end of the session, I’ll share my initial clinical impressions, possible diagnoses, and suggested areas of focus. Then together, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your needs and preferences. ✓ Optional lab work and testing We may order labs to better inform your care and optimize medication choices, if appropriate. We may also request records from past providers if needed. Diagnosing ADHD is a process that unfolds over more than one visit. After our first appointment, I'll send you some rating scales to complete. I will sometimes request past records or have someone close to you complete rating scales as well. We'll go over everything together at a follow-up before I share any formal impressions. One important note: ADHD is difficult to assess accurately in the context of active substance use. Daily cannabis use in particular can affect cognitive functioning and how someone responds to medication, so I'm not able to evaluate or treat ADHD while that's ongoing.
I offer a deeply personal and inclusive approach to care. I’m a gay ex-Mormon, and my journey has shaped how I show up in this work. Growing up gay in a conservative religious environment during the '90s and 2000s meant grappling early on with questions of identity, stigma, and self-acceptance. Later in life, after leaving the Mormon church and seeking support as a single parent, I sought out therapy for myself. That experience was transformative, not just personally, but professionally. Being on the client side of the therapeutic relationship taught me firsthand what it means to feel vulnerable, to build trust, and to experience authentic connection with a provider. These experiences are at the heart of my practice. I strive to create a space where all parts of you are welcome. I believe healing happens in relationship, and I bring both clinical expertise and lived experience to support you in that process.
A good fit would be someone with mental health concerns that are stable enough to be safely managed in an outpatient telehealth setting. Their symptoms meaningfully affect their quality of life, but aren't at a level of acuity requiring a high level of supervision and intensive care. Motivationally, they are genuinely invested in getting better. They understand that treatment takes time, are open to trying evidence-based approaches, and view the relationship as collaborative rather than transactional. They're not looking for a quick fix. They are willing to show up consistently, take medications as prescribed, and follow through on recommendations, including pursuing therapy or medical evaluation. Practically, they are 18 or older, located in Virginia, have stable enough functioning to attend regular telehealth appointments, and can manage the logistical side of care without significant friction. In short, the ideal patient is a motivated adult dealing with low to moderate acuity mental health challenges, who wants a thoughtful, long-term partnership in their care.

Do you offer therapy? I'm a psychiatric nurse practitioner, which means my primary role is to evaluate, diagnose, and provide medication management for mental health concerns. That said, I believe change often comes from more than just a prescription. That’s why I offer longer appointment times, so we have space not only to talk about medications but also to explore what's really going on for you. In our work together, I incorporate therapeutic techniques within a humanistic and person-centered framework. There are times when more intensive or specialized psychotherapy is needed, whether it’s deeper trauma work, long-term therapy, or more frequent sessions than I can offer. In those cases, I’m happy to refer you to a licensed therapist and to collaborate closely to ensure your care is coordinated and aligned with your goals.

Sydney is great! She is super attentive and understanding. I really appreciated that she validated my experiences and was open to exploring the different diagnoses I thought I had. She also provides a wealth of super useful information so that you are able to make the best informed decision!
