I’m Patricia Reed, a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner who specializes in medication management with supportive, brief psychotherapy when needed. My style is warm, practical, and collaborative—I use approaches like motivational interviewing and existential therapy to help clients explore their goals, find meaning, and move toward lasting change. I enjoy working with adults navigating stress, anxiety, depression, and life transitions, and I’m committed to creating a safe space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered in your journey.
During our first session, we’ll take time to review your history, current concerns, and what you hope to accomplish. I’ll ask questions to understand your symptoms, lifestyle, and past treatments so we can develop a plan that works for you. You can expect a conversation that is professional yet relaxed, where you are free to share openly at your own pace. By the end of the visit, you’ll leave with a clear next step—whether that’s starting or adjusting medication, exploring therapy supports, or both.
My Greatest Strengths What makes my approach unique is the blend of clinical expertise and genuine compassion I bring to each session. As a dual-certified nurse practitioner (psychiatric and family), I understand both the medical and emotional aspects of care. My greatest strengths include building trust quickly, providing straightforward education about medications, and integrating motivational interviewing and existential approaches to spark meaningful change. Clients often share that they feel heard, respected, and empowered in our work together.
My Ideal Clients I work best with adults who are ready to take an active role in their mental health journey. Many of my clients are high achievers, caregivers, or individuals navigating stress, anxiety, depression, or major life transitions. My ideal clients are motivated for change—even if they feel stuck—and value a balance of evidence-based medication management and supportive, brief therapy. If you’re looking for a provider who listens, partners with you, and helps you connect treatment with your goals and values, I may be the right fit.
Motivational Interviewing
In my practice as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I primarily provide medication management while also incorporating brief psychotherapy during visits when appropriate. I often use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to support clients who may feel ambivalent about change or treatment. MI allows me to meet clients where they are, explore their own goals and values, and help them discover the internal motivation to move forward. This approach is especially effective when discussing lifestyle adjustments, medication adherence, or recovery-focused goals. I use MI in a conversational, supportive way that empowers clients to take ownership of their progress.
