LP, 10 years of experience
I work by using an integrative approach and adapt the approaches that is best suited for the client’s needs. I have experience in delivering Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy & Dialectic Behavioural Informed Therapy. I understand that therapy can be daunting but I offer a safe, confidential, emphatic and non-judgemental environment. My aim is to help clients understand their mental health issues better and empower them to achieve the changes they need in order to live a better quality of life. I have been a Counselling Psychologist for over 10 years and have a wide range of experience in a variety of healthcare settings such as the NHS, Charities & Private Hospitals in the UK. I have extensive experience working in both primary and secondary care settings including Secondary Schools, Universities, Drug & Alcohol Services, Trauma Services and in Forensic Settings. I also have experience working with young people and adults presenting with a wide range of difficulties such as depression, anxiety, eating disorder, personality disorder, drug addiction and relationship difficulties. I offer individual, group, family & couples therapy.
Clients can expect a warm, inviting space where I give a brief introduction around the therapy space which then dives into the client sharing their current difficulties and working together to create a treatment plan.
After 10 years of being a psychology, I feel my greatest strength is both my knowledge and my energy. I have a vast experience and training in multiple modalities of therapy and I feel my empathic, warm energy creates a safe space for clients.
I'd like a client who comes with a sense of openness, honesty and wanting to work collaboratively.
I am trained in both CBT and ACT and have used both methods in practice when working with clients who experience difficult regulating emotions and learning helpful emotional regulation skills.
I worked on a women's personality disorder ward for 2 years where I trained in DBT and facilitated both group and individual sessions.
In private practice, I see couples who struggle with marital issues such as substance misuse, infidelity, mental health issues, financial issues and difficulties navigating life transitions.
I am trained in Multicultural Counseling having written my doctorate thesis on the importance of culturally sensitive practice. I am keen on incorporating cultural values and beliefs into the therapy space to help clients understand themselves better.
I worked with survivors of sexual and domestic abuse for over 4 years and I am trained in CBT-TF where trauma I work with clients to implement psycho-education around relaxation techniques, emotional regulation training and trauma narrative processing.
