New to Grow
My name is Michelle Lesagonicz, easier known as Michelle "L". I have worked in the state of Alaska in mental health therapy for 12 years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). My resume includes internships in hospice settings, and individual and group outpatient settings. I have worked with severly mentally ill clients, children, adults, and elders from the Alaskan cities, suburbs, rural areas, and remote villages. I recently practice with any adult over 18 years of age.
Our first session will be answering questions you may have to help you feel secure and safe in your therapy journey. The first session is a good time to start to gain trust in the therapeutic relationship and with me, as your therapist to build a strong foundation for your goals. We will then work on an assessment (history, symptoms, etc) and set up a treatment plan with goals that you feel fit your specific needs to achieve healthy outcomes in your life. My hope is that you experience an approachable, collaborative, and empowering therapy experience. with skills and education you will be able to use for a lifetime. I welcome all questions and comments.
The therapy process is a very personal experience and can be challenging at times. I want to support you in these challenges by being truthful and direct without judgement. I am approachable, easygoing, and perhaps your biggest fan and will work on recognizing when you may need a pause to breathe.
I prefer working with cllents who are 18 years old and older that experience anxiety, depression, living with chronic pain, life/relationship changes, and those needing help with setting boundaries in relationships and are ready for positive change. I am best able to serve those that are interested in teletherapy in the state of Alaska, including rural and indigenous communities and give everyone in our great state exceptional and quality care without navigating the sometimes inclement weather.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is structured and action-oriented. With CBT I can teach you to identify how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected and how to challenge unhelpful thoughts, learn healthy thinking habits, and practice healthy coping skills.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I assist in guiding clients to observe their present-moment experiences, thoughts, and bodily sensations without judgment through breath based breathing exercises. These exercises will assist in lowering symptoms of anxiety and physical pain. I commonly use this with CBT.
