New to Grow
Hi, I’m Barbara, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and the founder of BeMore Wellness. I provide virtual therapy for young adult and adults who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves. My approach is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth—therapy doesn’t have to feel intimidating or overly clinical to be effective. Together, we focus on building insight, emotional regulation, and self-trust so you can move through life with more confidence and clarity. I believe therapy should meet you where you are, move at your pace, and support you in becoming more of who you already are—not who you think you “should” be.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other in a relaxed, supportive environment. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’re hoping to get out of it, and what’s been feeling hardest lately. There’s no pressure to share everything at once—this is your space, and we move at your pace. I’ll also explain how therapy works with me, answer any questions you have, and make sure you feel comfortable moving forward. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and a little less alone than when you arrived.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strength is creating a therapeutic space that feels safe, genuine, and easy to settle into—where clients don’t feel judged, rushed, or expected to “perform” therapy the right way. I take an integrative, client-centered approach, blending evidence-based tools with real-life conversations that actually make sense outside of session. I’m especially skilled at helping clients slow down, build emotional awareness, and break patterns like people-pleasing, overthinking, and self-criticism. I focus not just on insight, but on practical skills, self-trust, and sustainable change—so growth continues long after session ends.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
You might be a good fit if you’re feeling anxious, burnt out, emotionally overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. Many of my clients are students or adults navigating life transitions, relationship stress, people-pleasing, low self-esteem, or difficulty setting boundaries. You may be self-aware, thoughtful, and motivated for change—but unsure where to start or how to sustain it. I work well with clients who want a supportive space that feels human, not judgmental, and who value honesty, collaboration, and growth. Therapy with me is for those who want to understand themselves better, feel more emotionally grounded, and build tools they can actually use in real life.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Ever notice how your brain can turn a minor inconvenience into a full-blown crisis in under five seconds? CBT helps you spot those unhelpful thought spirals, question them like a curious detective, and replace them with thoughts that are a bit more grounded (and a lot less dramatic). It’s basically mental training for handling life without letting your thoughts run the whole show.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
Think of it as a toolkit for handling life when it feels like “too much.” DBT offers practical skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and better communication (yes, even during awkward family dinners). I incorporate DBT-informed tools to help clients navigate emotional ups and downs while building confidence and self-trust; one mindful moment at a time.
Integrative
Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all—and neither is integrative approach. I use an integrative style, which means I thoughtfully blend different evidence-based therapies within and across sessions based on your needs, goals, and what’s showing up that day. Rather than sticking to one rigid model, I pull from approaches like CBT, DBT-informed skills, trauma-focused work, expressive tools, and solution-focused strategies to support real, meaningful change—while keeping therapy human, collaborative, and practical.
Trauma-Focused CBT
A supportive, structured approach—designed to help process trauma, manage distressing symptoms, and build resilience (because life doesn’t come with a manual, but therapy comes pretty close). All in a safe space where growth happens—sometimes with breakthroughs, sometimes with laughs.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
You're the expert on your life—I'm just here to help you hear yourself think without all the static. No advice-giving, no interrupting, and definitely no “fixing”—just a judgment-free zone where you get to talk, reflect, and maybe realize mid-sentence that you already knew the answer. I'm basically the emotional co-pilot who never grabs the wheel because you got it under control.
