About me

I am a licensed and board certified clinical psychologist, holding a doctorate of psychology and with additional training in aeromedical assessment. As a father, husband, 15-year military veteran, and psychologist, I have had the good fortune to work with amazing people and experience incredible things. I find that, when combined with passion and collaborative therapeutic goals, those experiences have helped me develop knowledge I can draw from to help clients of all backgrounds and beliefs. When I meet with clients, I consider the discussion and course of therapy to be yours. That is, I will respect the pace and progress clients would like. I do hope you will consider working together!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

First sessions can be a bit intimidating, especially if you have never done therapy. I like to tell clients that the first session is a little more question-answer than following sessions, but that is only because I want to make sure I have all of the information I need to provide sound advice as we move forward. I will try to get to know your life story in about an hour, which can be a tall order, but it can be done! After the first session, I am all for the client driving the sessions as much as possible. If you want structured sessions with specific advice, I can do that. If you want a more relaxed conversation, I can provide that too. My main goal is to make sure you are getting the help you deserve in the style you're comfortable with. As a general disclaimer, I really do value my clients' safety, so I am unable to work virtually with individuals contemplating self-harm or experiencing acute serious mental illness. I apologize for any inconvenience, but I do not want to risk anyone's health should I not be physically present at times of crisis.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Speaking from a formal training perspective, my current role allows me to pursue numerous training opportunities, so I have formal training treating anxiety, depression, PTSD, chronic pain, ADHD, adjustment disorders, insomnia, and the list goes on. I also conduct specialty diagnostic assessments for neurodevelopmental disorders, serious mental illness, gender affirming care evaluations following the WPATH standards, and a variety of others. All of that said, I honestly think my biggest strength is my non-clinical experience. After living in five countries and several states, raising a family, and working anything from combat arms roles in the Army to diplomatic roles in embassies, I've learned a good many life lessons that can come in handy.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I have extensive formal training and experience working with trauma survivors, individuals facing chronic pain, those with sleep disorders, and clients facing depression and anxiety. That said, I truly do meet clients where they are, and I can proudly say that I've worked with people from all walks of life. FOR TESTING CLIENTS An area of particular focus in my practice is diagnostic testing and assessment for various conditions. This field has become a passion of mine, and it is an area in which I have earned honors amongst my peers. Testing can be very useful for clients seeking clarity due to complicated symptoms, the assessment of certain neurodevelopmental conditions, and/or it is sometimes needed for things like disability evaluations or job placement. Some people even just like doing it to learn more about themselves. If you are looking to complete testing, please know that there are some limitations as to what I can do online. Most assessments can be completed virtually, but not all. For instance, I cannot conduct remote forensic evaluations due to the possibility I would need to testify in court, and long distance travel makes that unfeasible. And while I can accept insurance for therapy, most insurances will not cover testing.

Taylor is excellent and were it not for my insurance, I would continue therapy sessions with him.
