Tabitha Younger
My career in Social Work has spanned over 10 years, allowing me to support individuals through a range of experiences and life challenges. Today, I'm especially passionate about helping adults navigate relationships, life transitions, personal growth, and the expectations that often come with balancing life's many responsibilities. I believe meaningful growth begins with feeling heard, understood, and supported. My approach is person-centered and collaborative, and I value creating a space where clients feel comfortable showing up as they are, exploring their experiences, and discovering new ways to move forward. I enjoy helping people develop practical tools, strengthen self-awareness, and build greater trust in themselves.
I take time to understand each client's needs and work collaboratively to create space for reflection, growth, and meaningful change.
First session
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another, explore what brought you to therapy, and begin identifying what you hope to gain from the experience. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, sharing concerns, and getting a sense of my approach and what working together may look like. We'll collaborate to identify your goals and begin developing a plan that reflects your needs and priorities. You don't have to gave everything figured out before starting. My hope is that you leave our first session feeling heard, supported, and encouraged about the possibilities for growth ahead. Therapy is a process, and we'll take that time to build a foundation that allows us to approach that process together.
Strengths
I bring a warm, collaborative, and strengths-based approach to my sessions. I believe therapy should be responsive to the individual, not a one-size-fits-all experience. I take time to understand each client's needs and work collaboratively to create space for reflection, growth, and meaningful change. I'm compassionate and supportive, but also direct when needed. I believe in meeting clients where they are while gently challenging them to recognize patterns, consider new perspectives, and explore new possibilities for moving forward. I believe people deserve to recognize their strengths just as much as they acknowledge the areas where they want to grow. My goal is to help clients build on what is already within them while developing the tools and confidence to navigate life more intentionally.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with adults navigating life's transitions, relationship challenges, career changes, and the uncertainties that can come with different stages of life. You may find yourself questioning your direction, feeling overwhelmed by competing responsibilities, overthinking decisions, or wondering whether you're where you thought you would be at this point in life. Perhaps you're looking to strengthen your relationships, establish healthier boundaries, manage anxiety, or develop better understanding of yourself and what you want moving forward. You don't necessarily have to know exactly what needs to change to begin therapy. You may simply know that something feels different or that you're ready for a new perspective. My approach is especially suited to individuals who are open to self-exploration and willing to invest in their personal growth. Together, we'll work toward developing practical tools, strengthening self-awareness, and finding ways to care for yourself, navigate relationships and approach life's challenges with greater clarity and confidence.
Origin story
My decision to pursue a career in mental health was influenced by personal experiences that shaped my desire to help others. When a close family member experienced significant health challenges, I gained a deeper understanding of how illness can affect not only individuals but also families who love and support them. That experience inspired me to pursue a career where I could make meaningful difference in the lives of others. Throughout my career I discovered that what I value most is the opportunity to connect with people individually, listen to their stories, and to help them work through challenges, relationships, and life transitions. Whether through crisis intervention or therapeutic work, I've found fulfillment in helping people gain perspective, recognize their strengths, and find a way forward. Over time, I realized that this is where my passion lies: helping people better understand themselves and feel more confident navigating their lives.
Ongoing work together
Our sessions will be collaborative, intentional, and built around the goals we establish together. We'll regularly check in on how things are going, reflect on experiences since our previous session, and explore how those experiences connect to the goal we're working toward. We'll identify ways to incorporate the insights, strategies, and skills discussed in session into your day-to-day life. We'll revisit how those things are applied, what feels helpful, and where additional support or adjustments may be needed. Progress isn't measured solely by the goals we initially establish, but also by how you begin to recognize changes in your thoughts, behaviors, relationships and responses to life's challenges. Your feedback matters and we'll regularly assess whether our work together continues to reflect your needs. While sessions will build on one another, therapy also allows room for the unexpected. If new concerns arise, we'll make space for those while remaining mindful of your broader goals.
Treatment methods
Person-centered (Rogerian)
My approach is grounded in person-centered therapy, which recognizes that you are the expert on your own experiences and that meaningful change begins with understanding yourself. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I value your individual perspective and recognize that your goals, strengths, and personal experiences are important parts of the therapeutic process. My role is to help you recognize those strengths, explore new possibilities and navigate the changes you want to make for yourself.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I incorporate CBT to help you better understand how your thoughts and feelings influence your behaviors, decisions, and responses to everyday situations. Together, we'll explore patterns in how you think and respond to life's challenges and identify new perspectives and healthier ways of moving forward. Sometimes, the way we think about a situation can contribute to feelings of anxiety, self-doubt or feeling stuck. By recognizing these patterns, we can work toward developing more balanced perspectives, healthier responses, and practical strategies you can apply in your daily life. The goal is to help you feel more confident in how you approach challenges and make decisions that align with what you want for yourself.
