Tiara Rodriguez
I’m a licensed professional counselor and founder of Weathered Reins Therapy, an online therapy practice serving adolescents and adults throughout Arizona. I have a master’s degree in counseling and over three years of clinical experience providing therapy through internship and associate-level practice, with a background in community mental health, crisis services, and private practice. I work with adolescents and adults navigating trauma, difficult relationships, attachment wounds, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and life transitions. My own experiences with trauma and unexpected life challenges have shaped my understanding of how important it can be to find safety, trust yourself, and feel grounded again. I bring compassion, curiosity, and gentle challenge to therapy, while also offering Christian counseling for those who want to integrate their faith.
First session
Finding the right therapist matters, especially when reaching out for therapy can feel vulnerable. I strive to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and comfortable being yourself. I want therapy to be a place where you can explore what you're experiencing, build on your strengths, and take meaningful steps toward the life you want. Our first session is a chance for us to get to know one another and begin understanding what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about your experiences, what you’re hoping to work on, and what support might be most helpful. You don’t need to have everything figured out or share anything before you’re ready. My goal is for you to feel heard, comfortable, and supported as we begin working together.
Strengths
I bring warmth, compassion, curiosity, and gentle challenge into the therapy room. My approach is trauma-informed and considers the connection between our thoughts, emotions, nervous system, relationships, and lived experiences. I draw from evidence-based and somatic-based approaches to help clients not only understand their patterns, but also become more aware of how stress and emotions show up in the body. I don’t believe therapy should be one-size-fits-all, so I tailor our work to each person’s needs, goals, and pace. I especially value helping clients understand themselves more deeply, recognize patterns that may no longer serve them, and build greater trust in themselves. My own life experiences also shape the way I show up, with an understanding that healing can be difficult, nonlinear, and deeply personal. One of the most meaningful parts of this work is watching someone begin to feel safer within themselves, develop healthier relationships, and recognize that difficult experiences can shape their story without defining their future.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is an adolescent or adult navigating trauma, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, difficult or unhealthy relationship patterns, attachment wounds, boundaries, or major life transitions. They may find themselves overthinking, people-pleasing, striving for perfection, feeling disconnected from themselves, or struggling to trust their own thoughts, feelings, and decisions. They may understand some of their patterns but feel unsure how to change them. I enjoy working with clients who want to better understand themselves, heal from difficult experiences, feel more grounded, build healthier relationships, and create meaningful change at a pace that feels safe and sustainable. For clients whose Christian faith is important to them, I also welcome the opportunity to integrate faith, biblical principles, and spiritual values into the therapeutic process in a way that supports their individual beliefs and goals.
Treatment methods
Trauma Informed Care
I approach therapy through a trauma-informed lens that prioritizes safety, choice, collaboration, trust, and pacing. I consider how past experiences may influence current emotions, relationships, beliefs, and nervous system responses without defining the person by what they have experienced.
Somatic
I incorporate somatic strategies to help clients notice how emotions and stress show up in the body, increase nervous system awareness, and develop skills that support grounding, regulation, and a greater sense of safety.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
I use IFS-informed parts work to help clients approach different parts of themselves with curiosity and compassion, better understand protective patterns, and develop a more connected and accepting relationship with themselves.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help clients recognize connections between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, identify patterns that may be contributing to distress, and develop healthier ways of thinking and responding.
Faith based therapy
When desired by the client, I integrate Christian faith, biblical principles, prayer, and spiritual values into therapy in a way that respects the client’s beliefs, goals, and comfort level.
