LICSW, 8 years of experience
I am an independently licensed Individual and Family Therapist in the states of Massachusetts and Delaware. For over 7 years, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds as they navigate challenges impacting their emotional well-being and daily functioning. My therapeutic approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and grounded in the belief that each person is the expert of their own lived experience. I view my role as a partner in your process of self-exploration—helping you identify patterns, gain insight, and work toward meaningful and lasting change. I provide a calm, empathetic, and nurturing environment where clients feel safe, heard, and understood. Together, we will explore the underlying emotions and behaviors that contribute to distress and develop practical strategies to promote resilience, emotional balance, and personal growth.
In our first session together, we will begin with brief introductions and a discussion of my therapeutic approach, expectations, and what brings you to therapy at this point in your life. From there, we will explore the specific challenges or concerns you are currently facing. This collaborative process will allow me to develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals, which we will continue to build upon in our follow-up sessions.
My therapeutic style is client-centered, culturally responsive, and grounded in warmth, empathy, and genuine nonjudgmental engagement. I believe in meeting each person where they are in their journey and creating a supportive space for growth and self-discovery. I am skilled in clinically adapting both the therapeutic process and treatment plan to meet the unique needs, strengths, and goals of each individual I work with.
I have extensive experience supporting clients in addressing a wide range of concerns, including grief and loss, stress management, depression, anxiety, trauma, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, and low self-esteem. In my clinical work, I integrate evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Client-Centered approaches. I recognize the effort and commitment that meaningful therapeutic work requires and strive to partner with clients in a way that fosters resilience, insight, and lasting emotional growth.
I prioritize building a strong therapeutic alliance based on trust, safety, and respect. I am attentive to the signs and symptoms of trauma and understand how trauma exposure can affect emotional, physical, and mental well-being. My practice emphasizes patient-centered, evidence-based care grounded in the principles of safety, transparency, empowerment, and choice. I believe in collaboration throughout the therapeutic process—working closely with clients to establish mutually agreed-upon goals that guide treatment and support meaningful progress.
I develop a cooperative therapeutic alliance with my patients, creating a solution versus problem focus approach, setting measurable changeable goals, focusing on the future through future-oriented questions and discussions, and scaling the ongoing.
Gottman Method- I use this approach to emphasize building friendship, managing conflict, and creating shared meaning in a relationship. It involves interventions that promote positivity, empathy, and trust. Imago Relationship Therapy- I also use this method to help couples understand and heal childhood wounds that may influence how they relate to each other. I will guide couples to communicate with empathy and compassion while resolving unconscious conflicts.
I utilize SFBT as a goal-oriented approach that focuses on finding solutions and building on existing strengths and resources of clients. SFBT can be effective for clients who are looking for a more immediate, practical approach to managing symptoms.

As a social worker myself and having been to a number of different therapist personally over my healing journey I can honestly say Abou is one of the best. He is an extremely skilled couples counselor. He gives us the honest and direct feedback we need, while also being empathetic and compassionate to our struggles . He has truly been helping change our lives for the better and we are thankful to continue working with him!
