About me

My name is Shekeyia “Keyia” Baker, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor. At Flow From The Heart Counseling, LLC., I strive to create a safe and supportive space where you can feel understood, valued, and encouraged on your journey toward healing. My approach is heart-oriented and nonjudgmental—meeting you right where you are and walking alongside you at a pace that feels right for you. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions, or simply feeling overwhelmed, together we will work toward your goals in a way that fosters growth, resilience, and peace. You don’t have to have it all figured out—just a willingness to take the first step. I would be honored to walk with you on your path to healing.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first few sessions, I'll take time to get to know you, your story, your strengths, and what brought you here. Together, we'll create a plan that keeps your goals at the heart of the process. Along the way, we'll use proven tools and check in often to be sure you feel supported and making progress. You don't have to walk this journey alone. I'll be here with you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What stands out about my therapeutic approach is that I believe true healing begins with being genuinely heard. I strive to create a safe, compassionate, and supportive space where clients feel understood and encouraged. My work is grounded in evidence-based treatments while also being tailored to the unique needs and cultural backgrounds of each individual. I walk alongside clients with empathy and commitment, helping them develop tools for growth, resilience, and lasting change.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve adolescents, and adults who are working through trauma, anxiety or life transitions. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. I specialize in helping them build emotional regulation skills, process difficult experiences, and develop healthier ways of thinking and coping. My approach is especially helpful for clients who value being heard and supported while also wanting practical tools they can use outside of session. Whether the goal is healing from trauma, improving self-esteem, or learning new coping strategies, I partner with clients to create a path forward that honors their unique journey.

My treatment methods

Trauma-Focused CBT

I’m certified in Trauma-Focused CBT and have several years of experience using it with youth ages 8–18. In practice, I provide psychoeducation about trauma, teach coping skills, guide clients in creating a trauma narrative, and use in-vivo practice when appropriate. My goal is to help youth process trauma, regulate emotions, and build resilience in a safe, supportive way.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and use it regularly in my practice with children, adolescents, and adults. I begin with mindfulness strategies to help clients increase awareness of the problem and its impact. Together, we explore the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that contribute to the presenting concern. I then guide clients in developing practical coping strategies, healthier thinking patterns, and self-care practices. My goal is to equip clients of all ages with tools they can use both in and outside of sessions to reduce distress and build resilience.
