Hello! I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with 18 years of experience serving individuals, couples, and families in Indiana. My Master's degree from Northern Illinois University provided a strong foundation for the diverse therapeutic strategies and models I use to help clients navigate complex relationship challenges. I focus on thorough assessments, accurate diagnoses, and the development of tailored solutions to foster improved communication, emotional well-being, and overall functioning for everyone I work with.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our initial meeting, my priority is to establish a welcoming and secure atmosphere where you can begin to share what has led you to seek therapy. I will explain how our sessions generally proceed, covering aspects like session duration, confidentiality, and my therapeutic approach. My focus will be on understanding your present concerns, your background, and your goals for therapy. Please know there's no need to rush or share everything immediately; we will progress at a pace that feels right for you. We'll start to discuss what you hope to change or accomplish through our work together, which will help us create a direction for our future sessions. This first session also provides an opportunity for both of us to assess whether we feel comfortable working together, as it's crucial that you feel I am the right therapist for your needs. Ultimately, you can anticipate a supportive and non-judgmental space where we begin to develop a therapeutic connection and lay the foundation for our ongoing work. You will never be pressured to discuss anything before you are ready.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

With 18 years of experience and training in various therapeutic models, I can adapt my strategies to fit the unique needs, goals, and preferences of each client, couple, or family. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach and strive to be flexible and responsive.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

It brings me great satisfaction to guide individuals, couples, and families through significant life changes, including navigating thoughts of separation or divorce, co-parenting dynamics, the transition of an empty nest, or the profound experience of losing a loved one. I support my clients as they navigate these systemic shifts. While they often have a strong inner motivation for growth, they may need practical guidance to achieve their goals and frequently encounter feelings of being stuck, overwhelmed, or dread, particularly when challenges first emerge within the family system.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

Being eclectic in my therapeutic approach I can be even more flexible when tailoring treatment to each person's unique needs, goals, and preferences instead of sticking rigidly to one specific therapy style.

Couples Counseling

I work with couples to address common relationship issues like communication problems, trust issues, infidelity, financial disagreements, and stressors, utilizing various techniques. Depending on the couple's specific needs, I might use approaches such as the Gottman Method, solution-focused therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Attachment Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, etc..

Family Therapy

Over the years I have used family therapy to observe how family members interact with one another, seeking out any recurring patterns that might be causing difficulties. I then can assist the family in recognizing negative communication styles, roles people play, and unhealthy behaviors. To foster lasting change, this method of therapy helps me to guide the family in creating methods to communicate better, work through disagreements, and tackle the problems they've identified, ultimately aiming for a more supportive and understanding home where everyone can build healthy relationships.

EMDR

As a therapist, I have utilized EMDR therapy to assist people in processing the emotional and psychological distress resulting from traumatic events. I frequently employ this method when helping people with PTSD, anxiety, and other conditions linked to trauma.
