LCSW, 10 years of experience
New to Grow
Hi, I’m Lance, a licensed clinical social worker and doctoral candidate with over ten years of experience helping individuals and families navigate their wellness within the complexities of medical care and chronic illnesses. Most of my work has taken place in medical settings, such as clinics and hospitals, where I’ve supported clients and their loved ones in managing the mental and emotional challenges associated with new diagnoses and ongoing conditions. My specialty is working with caregivers and care partners of those with neurodegenerative conditions, including Parkinson’s disease and dementia. I aim to create a warm, welcoming space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to face life’s challenges and find practical solutions.
During our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know you and understanding your unique situation, challenges, and goals. I’ll ask about your experiences, listen to your concerns, and explore what matters most to you in therapy. Together, we’ll start identifying practical strategies and steps you can take, and I’ll explain how my approach can support you moving forward. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, understood, and with a clear idea of how we can work together to create meaningful change.
What stands out about my approach is that it’s both practical and compassionate. I blend evidence-based methods like Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed strategies with a collaborative, client-centered style. This means I work with you to set achievable goals, develop coping strategies, and address emotional and relational challenges. My clients often find that they leave sessions feeling heard, empowered, and equipped with concrete tools to handle life’s difficulties.
My clients often look for support in managing anxiety, dealing with challenging emotions, strengthening their family, romantic, or platonic relationships, and developing practical strategies for daily challenges.
I help clients set clear, achievable goals and focus on practical solutions. This approach works well if you’re a caregiver or care partner, managing a chronic illness, or going through life transitions and want strategies that deliver real results quickly.
CBT helps you recognize and modify unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. It’s especially effective for managing stress, anxiety, or depression, common challenges faced by caregivers and those adapting to chronic illness.
I provide trauma-informed support for those experiencing stressful or overwhelming situations. This includes burnout, post-traumatic stress, or other difficult life events. Together, we will process these experiences safely, focusing on healing and building resilience.
EFT helps couples and families strengthen emotional bonds. If caregiving, illness, or life changes have impacted your relationships or intimacy, this approach supports you in understanding emotions, communicating effectively, and reconnecting with your partner or loved ones.
I provide culturally responsive and affirming care that respects your identity, background, and lived experiences. This includes support for LGBTQ+ individuals, caregivers/care partners, and clients from historically marginalized communities. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can be yourself.
