New to Grow
I work with clients who struggle with anxiety or depression due to relationships or family issues. During the first few sessions, we'll dive into the issues you are most concerned about and collaborate on a plan with goals to help get you back on track. Many clients experience small improvements within the first month of therapy and sizable improvements down the road.
During our first session, we will get to know each other by talking about what brought you to therapy at this time in your life, and what you hope will change for the better for you. We will come up with some goals that work for you, and I'll go over practice policies and confidentiality, so that you understand therapy expectations and that you feel safe.
I bring a wide variety of experience working in this field over the past 15 years in a variety of settings, including private practice, school social work, residential institutions, and addiction. This has helped me to work with a wide variety of people and personalities and to find connection and common ground. I have a very strong curiosity, that helps to inform the questions I ask and the work that I do with clients. Many of my clients have expressed that they feel equipped with practical tools to deal with life's stressors and anxiety when we complete our journey with each other.
I work with individuals ages 18 and older, and bring 15 years of experience as a social worker to the table. I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches and tailor our work to your personality, preferences, and goals - whether you're looking for practical tools, deeper understanding, or simply a place to speak openly and be heard. I’m committed to providing an environment grounded in honesty, compassion, and genuine connection. If you're unsure whether counseling is right for you or whether we'd be a good fit, I offer a free 15 minute consultation by phone or email. Reaching out for support is a meaningful 1st step. If you're ready to stop carrying everything on your own, reach out!
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I often use DBT to introduce people to living in the present so that they can fully experience their lives and all that they have to offer. There are other components to this, such as emotional regulation, tolerating stress, and being more effective in their personal lives.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I try to meet clients where they are at, to be open, honest, transparent, and safe in what they share with me, and look at thinking, feeling, and behavior patterns that have held them back so that we can realize their full potential.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
I often like to explore my clients' family trees to see what kinds of dynamics and patterns most commonly happened in their lives, and how that has shaped them as adults in their current relationships.
