Jhane Hood Phillips
Welcome! My name is Jhane, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified Grief Counselor (GC-C). I know reaching out for help can be difficult, but by being here, you’ve already taken a big first step. (Go you!) My goal is to create a supportive, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment where we can explore your challenges, ask tough questions, and work together toward meaningful solutions. I aim to provide a space where you can find support while you regain your footing. No one should have to navigate life’s challenges alone- even superheroes have sidekicks! I hope you can take a moment to recognize the courage it takes to care for your mental health and well-being. It’s a powerful and invaluable investment in yourself.
First session
In our first session, we will start getting to know each other and begin building an environment that feels safe and comfortable for you. We will discuss what you hope to gain from therapy and begin identifying your goals. There is no expectation or pressure to share everything all at once- we go at your pace. This is also a time for you to ask me any questions and tell me what support looks like for you. Maybe you're someone mainly looking for a listening ear. Maybe you would prefer gentle challenges. Maybe homework or out-of-session tasks resonate with you. Maybe you're not sure! Support looks different for everyone, and I want to honor what feels most authentic for you.
Strengths
My approach is collaborative, supportive, and practical. I use a solution-focused and person-centered framework to help you better explore what you’re experiencing and build tools that feel useful in your everyday life. While I draw from evidence-based practices, I believe you are the expert on your own life, and therapy works best as a partnership.
Ideal clients
I primarily work with adults experiencing grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, and major life stressors. When you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or stuck in patterns you are ready to change but aren't sure how, it can be hard to know where to start. You might feel like you are constantly fighting your own thoughts or carrying the heavy weight of past experiences and current circumstances. You don't need to come to therapy with everything figured out. I just ask for an open mind, a willingness to explore your challenges, and a desire to enact meaningful change.
Treatment methods
Person-centered (Rogerian)
As I mentioned, I feel very strongly that you are the expert on your own life. I am here to work alongside you to explore what you are experiencing and help to build tools for growth in whatever direction you choose to go.
Strength-Based
When we're going through a tough time, it’s so easy to focus entirely on our flaws and what’s going wrong. I want to work together to shift that narrative to identify what unique skills you already possess and use them as a foundation for growth.
Trauma Informed Care
Your emotional safety and comfort are my biggest priorities. We will move at your own pace, and I will never force you to open a door you're not ready to walk through. I view your challenges not as signs that you are broken, but as ways you learned to protect yourself and adapt to difficult experiences.
