Hi, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been providing care in some capacity to adults for over 20 years. I graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia, M I Z Z OU! I help adults struggling with life transitions (employment, health concerns, loss of a loved one.......) make changes they desire or cope with situations they cannot control.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
Non-judgmental approach, open and truly desiring the best outcome for you and when I cannot provide it being open and transparent.
I enjoy working with adults who are dealing with grief, new physical health diagnosis, life changes such as divorce, retirement or birth of a new child. My clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed and anxious.
I utilize CBT to assist you in understanding the negative thoughts (why) that may be affecting your mood. It is a technique to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Evidenced-based (proven) to help with symptoms of depression and anxiety while also improving your self-esteem.
In addition to other techniques, I highly recommend and often utilize mindfulness-based therapy techniques such as meditation, body scan and mindful breathing. These techniques can improve mood, relieve stress, increase energy, and provide balance and center us as well as a host of other benefits.
Motivational interviewing is a great way to discover readiness to change. We would explore behaviors that are getting in the way of the change you desire and resolve any conflicting feelings, believes or reactions you may have regarding the change you desire.
This is by far my most utilized therapeutic approach. Solution focused therapy focuses on solution building rather than problem solving. It is short term in nature and goal oriented.
