New to Grow
I am a woman who grew up in a military family that has moved all around the world and changed many schools growing up. I started my career in juvenile corrections, then addiction studies, then mental health and now integrated healthcare. I specialize in the whole person and encouraging them to be the person they wish to be and seek to be. I have dealt with many adversities in my life as well as many amazing things that have occurred in my life. I use those experiences in my practice to empathize with my clients and remind them that all people experience things differently even if they are the same experiences. Individualized treatment is essential.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
The first session with me, I want to get to know you. I want to get an overall picture of who you are, your experiences, your fears, your strengths, your personal goals. I will ask you many questions in order to get to know some key things about you. I will then start discussing what you want from me, what you would like to get from working with me. This is a team approach from the first session with you being the team lead.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I am confident in my skills and abilities to have clients know that when they are working with me, I am attentive, present and there for them completely throughout the duration of the sessions. I am forward, yet understanding, I am open and honest and expect the same from the clients who begin therapy with me.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Clients who are motivated to be themselves and desire to practice enhancing oneself mind and body are my ideal client base. The therapy goals I would have for them are their actual goals with working in key coping skills and interventions that can aide them in their personal journey to growth.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is important in assisting clients in connecting how their thoughts, feelings and behaviors all intertwine.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Practicing mindfulness and self soothing skills can balance out the mind and body. It is a coping skull that can be utilized virtually anywhere with limited needed items.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
Person centered approach is extremely beneficial for clients to be able to guide their therapy in the way that feels right for them. I practice with the client leading their treatment at their pace with gentle nudging.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Sometimes we as humans need quick assistance with focusing on the situation or need we are experiencing at that moment. That is the benefit of solution focused, it is brief and typically feels like a problem is being targeted same day.
Positive Psychology
In positive psychology, I strive to work on assisting clients in addressing their strengths, their resilient nature and positive attributes rather than simply targeting a “problem” to rectify.
