(she/her)
Hello, I'm Lisa, and I have over 20 years of experience as a Licensed Therapist. I hold a Master's in Social Work from The Ohio State University and an Ed.S. in School Psychology from National Louis University in Chicago. I'm board-certified in both Ohio and Illinois, and I've also been certified as a School Psychologist. My diverse background includes working in inpatient, outpatient, and residential settings, as well as schools, hospitals, treatment centers, cancer wellness facilities, as a consultant and a private practice practitioner. These varied experiences allow me to draw from a rich tapestry of knowledge to best support my clients.
My first session is spent getting to know you and how we can work together and reach your therapeutic goals. I appreciate that time and money are not unlimited resources for most people, so I aim to help clients accomplish their goals efficiently and effectively. Building a strong therapeutic relationship and establishing trust are the cornerstones of effective therapy. I see therapists as vehicles to empower and encourage clients, helping them find the validation they need to inspire change and reach their goals.
I am creative with how i praqctice and I am open to designing programs that are curtailed and unique to each client. I am trained in family systems therapy and often incorporate an understanding of family history and generational patterns into my work. However, I also recognize that for some clients, focusing on the here and now with short-term goals can be more practical. I integrate different modalities based on each client's needs and preferences, including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, meditation, and my personal favorite—solution-focused therapy.
I have experience working with all kinds of people with various needs and concerns. I welcome you to give me a try and determine if my approach and style is a good fit for you. I believe in encouraging and empowering my clients to effectively use their own strengths and skills to improve their lives and relationships. We all have areas that can use a little improvement, and the key is to maximize strengths to compensate for weaknesses. My approach is client-centered, and I utilize several different therapeutic modalities based on what works best for each individual.
I use a variety of treatment modalities based on each individual's needs. I do not believe in one size fits all. I have used an individually tailored approach with all of my clients for over 25 years. .
With using several different treatment modalities, motivational interviewing is the perfect compliment to an easy back and forth dialogue and building a therapeutic alliance.
