Anice Butler
Hi, I’m Anice! I’m warm, funny, down-to-earth, and a real person who happens to be a therapist. With over 15 years of experience, I bring compassion, real-life perspective, humor, and a little tough love when needed. My style is relaxed, honest, and conversational. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, relationship drama, or simply tired of being everyone’s strong friend, we’ll laugh, unpack the hard stuff, challenge old patterns, and celebrate your wins. No stiff therapy talk or judgment—just genuine connection and real growth. Come as you are. We’ll figure out the rest together.
Strengths
I bring experience, compassion, humor, and a little tough love when needed. I’m a good listener, but I’m also going to ask the questions that make you think and challenge you when you're getting in your own way. I don't believe therapy has to feel stiff or overly clinical. We'll have real conversations, laugh when we can, and work through the uncomfortable stuff when we need to. I meet you where you are, but I won't let you forget where you want to go. My goal is for you to leave our sessions feeling heard, supported, and ready to make real changes in your life.
Treatment methods
Supportive
I use supportive therapy in my practice by creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported. I meet clients where they are, help them recognize their strengths, and provide encouragement as they work through life's challenges. My approach combines active listening, validation, reassurance, and practical problem-solving. I help clients build confidence, develop healthier coping skills, establish boundaries, and recognize that they have the ability to make meaningful changes in their lives. I believe therapy should feel like a genuine conversation, not an interrogation. Sometimes clients need guidance, sometimes they need encouragement, and sometimes they simply need someone to listen without judgment. My goal is to help them feel empowered, supported, and better equipped to navigate life independently.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
I use culturally responsive therapy by recognizing that every client brings their own background, values, beliefs, and life experiences into the therapy room. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I take time to understand how a client's culture, family, faith, identity, and community influence how they see themselves and navigate the world. I create a space where clients can show up as their authentic selves without feeling judged or misunderstood. I also recognize how experiences with discrimination, systemic barriers, and generational trauma can affect mental health. My goal is to meet clients where they are, respect what matters to them, and tailor treatment to their individual needs. I want clients to feel seen, heard, respected, and comfortable being themselves while we work toward their goals.
Motivational Interviewing
I use motivational interviewing in my practice to help clients explore their feelings, work through uncertainty, and find their own motivation for change. I believe lasting change happens when clients feel empowered to make decisions for themselves rather than being told what they need to do. My approach is conversational, supportive, and free of judgment. I ask open-ended questions, listen carefully, reflect on what clients share, and help them recognize the difference between where they are and where they want to be. I also acknowledge their strengths and celebrate progress, even when it's small. I understand that change isn't always easy and that clients may feel torn about taking the next step. My role is to help them build confidence, overcome barriers, and move forward at their own pace.
