New to Grow
Hi, I’m Ray Fredrickson, a trauma-informed mental health and substance use disorder therapist based in Spokane, Washington. I work with individuals who are seeking meaningful change in their mental health and substance use patterns. My approach is collaborative, client-centered, and grounded in trauma-informed care. I aim to meet clients where they are and support increased emotional regulation, empowerment, and self-connection. If you are experiencing stress, distress, or life transitions, therapy can provide a structured and supportive space to work through challenges at a pace that feels appropriate for you.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In the initial session, we will focus on informed consent, completing a comprehensive evaluation, and establishing therapeutic rapport. We will discuss your presenting concerns and treatment goals, review potential treatment approaches, and collaboratively determine whether my services are an appropriate fit. My clinical approach integrates evidence-based modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI)
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I am committed to supporting individuals in recovery and personal growth through ethical, client-centered care. My clinical competencies include conducting comprehensive assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and implementing trauma-informed, evidence-based interventions. I meet clients where they are and tailor treatment to align with their readiness for change and identified goals. I demonstrate strong skills in therapeutic rapport-building, motivational enhancement, and emotional regulation support. I maintain a professional yet approachable presence and use appropriate humor to strengthen engagement and foster a safe, collaborative therapeutic environment.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work best with clients who are motivated to process past experiences, develop new skills, and set goals that support meaningful change. My practice is focused on helping individuals move forward, increase personal agency, and build greater stability in their lives. At this time, my services are not a good fit for clients seeking disability evaluations, disability-related paperwork, or involvement in family court matters.
EMDR
I have 10 years of psychotherapy experience, utilizing trauma-informed methods to effect change.
Adlerian
I blend multiple modalities to reduce trauma, adjusting the autonomic nervous system while increasing skill capacity for emotional regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness.
