As a provider, I bring a compassionate, down-to-earth approach to counseling, rooted in my own experiences as a wife, mother to two wonderful children, and lover of animals. I understand the challenges of balancing family life, personal growth, and the stresses that come with both. I graduated from the University of Illinois with a Master's degree in Social Work and currently work full-time as a school social worker, where I have the privilege of supporting students through life's challenges. My passion for helping others extends beyond the school setting, which is why I am excited to offer supportive online counseling with the goal of eventually opening an in-person practice to further serve my community. In my free time, I enjoy watching my children play sports and spending time outdoors during the summer months. However, I also love cozying up indoors with a good book or favorite TV show. These personal interests help me relate to the balance of work, family, and self-care that many clients face. I am eager to expand my work from the school environment into the broader community, offering a safe, supportive space where individuals can explore their challenges and grow towards a healthier, more fulfilling life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session, we will take time to get to know each other and establish a comfortable, trusting space for our work together. I will ask about your background, current challenges, and what has brought you to therapy, while also exploring your personal goals for counseling. This initial conversation helps us create a roadmap for our work together, ensuring that we focus on what matters most to you as we move forward in achieving your goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

One of my greatest strengths as a provider is my ability to build strong, supportive relationships with my clients based on trust, empathy, and mutual respect. I am deeply committed to understanding each individual's unique needs and working collaboratively to help them achieve their therapeutic goals. My caring, nonjudgmental approach ensures that clients feel supported every step of the way, empowering them to make meaningful progress toward personal growth and well-being.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In my practice, I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns that may be affecting their emotions and behaviors. I am highly experienced in using its core principles to support clients in building healthier thinking habits and fostering lasting positive changes. I approach this process with compassion and care, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for growth.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I also incorporate principles of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients develop skills in emotional regulation, mindfulness, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. I utilize these strategies to assist clients in managing intense emotions and improving relationships, always with a focus on empathy, balance, and support.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

In my practice, I incorporate mindfulness-based techniques to help clients cultivate present-moment awareness and manage stress more effectively. As a certified practitioner of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) for teens, I specialize in teaching mindfulness practices that promote emotional regulation, focus, and relaxation. These tools can be particularly helpful for clients seeking to develop resilience and a greater sense of calm in their everyday lives.

Even though my services are provided virtually, I am committed to creating a supportive and safe environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. Through thoughtful communication and active listening, I work to build a trusting therapeutic relationship that fosters openness and collaboration. I utilize secure, user-friendly technology to ensure privacy and comfort during sessions, allowing clients to engage fully in the process from the safety of their own space. My goal is to make every client feel supported and valued, regardless of the distance between us.
