Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) based in Illinois and International Psychologist (PhD). I have been in the field of psychology/mental health for more than 10 years and have worked in hospitals, private practice, assisted reproductive technology agencies, and universities. I help adults with life transitions, anxiety, and fertility related matters by guiding and supporting their journey to become the best versions of themselves.
Therapy is an intimate, sometimes uncomfortable yet rewarding process that fosters mental health and overall wellbeing, thus I view it as a collaborative relationship wherein we work together on treatment. This involves self-reflecting, skill-building, goal-setting, and application. While challenging clients to delve deep beyond the surface, respect is always priority and guides my approach and our therapeutic relationship. The first session allows us to learn a little about each other, discuss presenting issues and treatment goals, and determine if we match. If it is a match, subsequent sessions will continue further into the presenting issues as well as identify coping skills.
Having worked in mental health for over 10 years, I've developed experience in helping to identify the root cause(s) of individual life challenges and collaborate on individualized treatment plans that lead to measurable progress.
I work with adults on managing life stressors. My clients are typically self-aware and might even have some tools already for navigating issues while open to gaining additional coping skills and learning more about themselves internally. They might feel stuck or overwhelmed about life but are open to applying therapy sessions to daily living.
In CBT, we explore connections between thoughts, feelings, and actions to foster healthy behavioral change.
With person-centered therapy, individuals actively lead as we discuss and navigate life's presenting issues by placing individuals at the center in order to gain control of their lives and empowerment to move forward.
With a culturally-sensitive therapeutic approach, I treat individuals within the cultural context they identify through intervention, communication/language style, and social awareness and cultural competence of intersecting identities and place in the world.
