I understand how intimidating it is to seek support and I do my best to show up with my personality so that my clients feel safe and comfortable in the therapy space. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Atlanta, Georgia. I received my Masters from Georgia State University and have been practicing for the last 9 years. I am also a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) by training which means I have a specialty working with adults with disabilities. My goal is to help people develop into healthy and whole individuals while utilizing evidenced-based practices to assist clients with their individualized goals.
During the first session, we’ll get to know each other a bit and then talk about goals for therapy. I spend the bulk of the first session listening to understand what challenges my clients are facing and I will always leave room for my clients to ask questions about my experiences and approach.
My approach to therapy is to highlight clients’ individual strengths while guiding them to a place of healing and introspection. Humor and pragmatism permeate my approach and allow me the ability to connect with my clients on a level where healing can take place. I have worked in a variety of settings including inpatient, outpatient and those in-between giving me a variety of experiences and exposure to vast community resources. I enjoy incorporating new techniques and thinking outside of the box.
I enjoy working with adults with disabilities, major depressive disorder, anxiety, autism and other mental health diagnoses. My specialty is helping those experiencing adjustments in life such as a new baby, a new job, a new relationship or an acquired disability. My clients are typically an active participant in therapy and motivated towards change. They often feel stuck or overwhelmed with where to start.
I enjoy utilizing ACT to assist clients with achieving psychological flexibility and emotional acceptance. ACT also helps clients identify individualized goals based on their values.
I enjoy utilizing techniques from CBT to assist clients with evaluating and challenging their thoughts and understanding their overall importance in mental health.
I enjoy utilizing techniques from SFBT to assist clients with reaching pragmatic solutions to their issues.
I enjoy incorporating mindfulness into either therapy homework or in session as it helps promote a sense of control and peace for clients.
I enjoy helping clients connect to the physiological component of their emotional experiences and enhance the mind-body connection which is crucial to healing.
