Welcome. My name is Stephanie Hart and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I graduated from Wayne State University in Michigan and have worked in Community Mental Health and private practice. My approach is warm, affirming, and collaborative. I'm an experienced therapist and utilize a combination of evidenced based modalities including Trauma Informed Care, CBT, DBT, and Mindfulness. Many people come to therapy feeling anxious, disconnected, or unsure how things got this hard. Let's talk about about how to make things better.
Our first therapy is the initial intake. It is about connection and will cover introductions, confidentiality, and the cancellation policy. We'll discuss your goals as well as your history, support system, and values. It is normal to feel a little nervous and I do my best to help you feel at ease.
Anxiety, stress, and depression and impact us in many ways. You might feel stuck, overwhelmed, and uncertain. Or you're in a relationship where you're talking but not actually feeling heard or supported. You try to push through, think your way out of it, or tell yourself it's not that bad-but it keeps showing up. At some point, coping stops being enough. I work with people who are tired of carrying too much internally while trying to look "fine" on the outside. Therapy offers a place to slow things down and understand what's driving those patterns. Change is possible and there is a way forward, even if you can't see it yet.
I want to help people who are navigating stress and anxiety. People who have challenges with feeling overwhelmed and difficulty finding calm and peace in their life. I also want to help people feel more confident, build self-compassion, and shift away from self-doubt. This may go along with helping people cope with life changes such as moving, job changes, marriage, and parenting. I am also skilled in helping people build communication skills and setting healthier boundaries. Learning Mindfulness, relaxation skills, and coping strategies is often a goal.
