I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 20 years of experience working with gay men in individual and couples therapy. My approach is to help clients explore how early experiences, identity, and relational patterns shape their emotional lives and connections with others. Many gay men reach a point where success on the outside no longer matches how they feel on the inside. You may be navigating relationship challenges, intimacy concerns, long-standing anxiety or shame, or a sense that old coping patterns are no longer working. Therapy can offer a space to slow down, understand yourself more fully, and make changes that feel authentic and lasting.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Your first session will be different from future visits. The initial visit is a period us to get to know each other and get an idea of how to proceed. Future visits will be more therapeutic in nature. Therapy tends to be time-limited, so we may decide to work together for a few months, and then plan to evaluate our progress. Treatment focuses on trying to resolve current problems. Your past is not ignored and early learning experiences are considered important in CBT; however, the main focus is on helping to reduce the distress and related symptoms that are impairing a person’s current functioning.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) interventions. The basis of CBT is that thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are inter-related, so altering one can help to alleviate difficulties in another.
