I have been working as a social worker for over 30 years, and as a clinical social worker for over 10 years. My experience in medical settings has given me an understanding of how physical health and functioning impact mental and emotional wellness. I am comfortable helping clients to navigate aging, chronic disease, and changes in abilities. I have personal and professional experience with loss which enables me to assist others on their grief journey. I enjoy helping clients to move through life changes such as divorce, parenting children into adulthood, grandparenting, and career challenges. I especially enjoy working with adult women in midlife and beyond. I live in a rural area in Illinois with my spouse and pets. I am a voracious reader, enjoy music of all kinds, especially live music, and I do creative writing in my spare time.
My goal is that my clients feel heard and respected, and that they take an active role in their treatment. They are at the center of the process of planning treatment and addressing their own challenges and needs.
I utilize mindfulness, CBT, and relaxation techniques.
I feel I am able to connect with female clients most deeply. I appreciate clients who are willing to read, and journal, and practice techniques and skills between sessions. In my experience, this enhances the experience, increases client investment, and speeds progress.
