New to Grow
Hi! My name is Caterina and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in the Philadelphia area. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Pennsylvania and have experience providing care individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including substance use disorders and complex medical concerns. My work is grounded in a strengths-based, person-in-environment perspective, recognizing that each individual’s experiences are shaped by their relationships, communities, and broader systems. Drawing from both psychiatric and medical social work experience, I support clients navigating mental health symptoms, life transitions, and health-related stressors. I strive to create a nonjudgmental and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable exploring difficult emotions, identifying their inherent strengths, and building practical tools for meaningful, sustainable change.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. I’ll want to learn what’s bringing you into therapy right now, what feels most important to talk about, and what you hope to gain from this experience. We’ll explore your goals at a pace that feels comfortable for you — whether you have something very specific in mind or you’re still figuring that out. I’m also interested in understanding you as a whole person, not just the challenges you’re facing. We may talk about your relationships, background, strengths, stressors, and the experiences that have shaped you. Therapy isn’t just about symptoms — it’s about your story. There’s no pressure to share everything at once. This first meeting is simply the beginning of building a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
At the heart of my work is empathy. I strive to truly understand your experience from your perspective, without assumptions or judgment. I bring a big heart into the therapy space and deeply respect the courage it takes to be vulnerable. I have worked on the front lines of the opioid epidemic, supporting individuals in significant crisis, often with limited supports and complex life circumstances. These experiences have strengthened my ability to remain steady, compassionate, and solution-focused even in the most challenging moments. No matter your current situation or past struggles, I am committed to offering guidance, support, and respect. I am patient and understanding, recognizing that healing is not linear. My goal is to meet you where you are and create a space where you feel safe, valued, and never defined by your hardest chapters.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work with adolescents and adults navigating all kinds of concerns — whether they feel overwhelming or “not big enough” to bring to therapy. If something has been sitting with you, stressing you out, or quietly weighing on you, it matters here. You don’t have to be in crisis to deserve support. I often help individuals move through life transitions, relationship challenges, health-related concerns, substance use, and struggles with self-esteem or identity. Many of the people I work with feel stuck, unsure of themselves, or simply ready for a space to slow down and better understand their patterns and emotions. My hope is to offer a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where you can show up exactly as you are. A place where you feel safe to be honest, explore difficult feelings, and make sense of your experiences — without pressure or shame. From there, we can work together to build clarity, confidence, and meaningful, lasting change.
Strength-Based
As a clinical social worker, strengths-based therapy is vital to how we see our clients within the systems and environments they are functioning in. Recognizing client strengths and resilience empowers clients and helps them build awareness of their inner resources. I have utilized a strengths-based perspective my entire career, beginning with my first internship.
